Abstract Is it possible to create low-cost functional composite metal foams? In the framework of this study, composite metal foams filled tubes were produced with lightweight expanded clay aggregate particles. Specimens were manufactured by low pressure infiltration in aluminium tubes with the wall thickness of 5 mm.

Thermal conductivities of expanded shale and clay lightweight aggregates
This report presents the results of a field evaluation of the thermal conductivity of lightweight clay and shale-based aggregates from stockpiles exposed to outdoor climate conditions. The data indicated that conductivities as low as 0.1 W/m.K may be expected for coarse aggregate.
