Recognition of Cordyceps Based on Machine Vision and Deep Learning

open access: yesAgriculture
In a natural environment, due to the small size of caterpillar fungus, its indistinct features, similar color to surrounding weeds and background, and overlapping instances of caterpillar fungus, identifying caterpillar fungus poses significant ...

Seq2Space: A Lightweight Solution for Sequence Modelling

open access: yes, 2023
This paper proposes a novel method for sequence modelling which we call Seq2Space. The basic idea is to project sequential information into the channel dimension. The Seq2Space layer outperforms the Transformer on every dataset contained in the Long Range Arena (LRA) benchmark as well as on the WSJ0-2 Mix benchmark for single-channel speech separation.

Experimental Evaluation of 100Cr6 Steel Microindented Surfaces Under Lubricated Nonconformal Point Contacts

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The tribological behavior of 100Cr6 steel spheres textured via Vickers microindentation is evaluated under lubricated sliding by varying both dimple size and density. Fine and dense textures significantly reduce friction across all lubrication regimes, while large dimples increase it.

On the Lightweight Potential of Laser Additive Manufactured NiTi Triply Periodic Minimal Sheet Lattices

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study explores the lightweight potential of laser additive‐manufactured NiTi triply periodic minimal surface sheet lattices. It systematically investigates the effects of relative density and unit cell size on surface quality, deformation recovery, compression behavior, and energy absorption.

Punching shear strength of steel fibre reinforced lightweight concrete slabs. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1981
One of the problems in slab-column connections is the punching shear failure at over loads. Such failures are sudden and catastrophic, and are undesirable since they do not allow an overall yield mechanism to ...

Predicting compressive strength of lightweight foamed concrete using extreme learning machine model

open access: yes, 2018
In this research, a machine learning model namely extreme learning machine (ELM) is proposed to predict the compressive strength of foamed concrete. The potential of the ELM model is validated in comparison with multivariate adaptive regression spline ...

Electrochemical Evaluation of Compressed Selective Laser Melted AlSi7Mg and AlSi10Mg Alloys in Chloride Environment

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The corrosion performance of AlSi7Mg and AlSi10Mg alloys produced through selective laser melting (SLM) was examined under compressive stress in a chloride environment. Electrochemical analyses, including open‐circuit potential (OCP), potentiodynamic polarization (CPP), and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), were complemented by scanning ...
