Emergent Spinning and Orbital Motion in Clustered Wind‐Assisted Flyers

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Inspired by natural snowflake geometries, paper‐cut flyers exhibit geometry‐defined spinning and orbital motions during cluster formation in a wind tunnel. Collective flights of multiple paperflakes reveal dynamic clustering, fragmentation, and continuously evolving spin behaviors.

Structural design and safety performance of a novel high-strength steel lightweight guardrail

open access: yesPLOS ONE
Highway guardrails are critical safety infrastructure along roadways, designed to redirect vehicles back into their lanes and facilitate a gradual deceleration to a complete stop. Traditional highway steel guardrails exhibit significant limitations, including inadequate energy absorption, susceptibility to corrosion, and an increased risk of vehicles ...

Absorption of Broadband Low‐Frequency Sound Beyond the Thermodynamics Limit: An Acoustic Resonator With Magnetic Bearing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work presents a magnetic‐bearing acoustic resonator that overcomes the thermodynamics limit of sound absorption. By introducing tunable negative stiffness, it achieves broadband low‐frequency absorption within a compact cavity, far exceeding the performance achievable by classic mass‐tuned designs.

A Sustainable Bio‐Based Epoxy Thermoset as a High‐Performance Alternative to BPA‐Based Resins

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A rigid–flexible bio‐based epoxy network integrates soybean oil, lignin, and maleic anhydride to overcome the strength–toughness–sustainability trade‐off of conventional BPA epoxy. The thermoset delivers excellent performance as both a structural adhesive and a matrix for glass‐fabric composites, while enabling pH‐responsive degradation, environmental ...

Lightweight design of lattice structure of boron steel prepared by selective laser melting

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology
Three-cycle minimum surface structures show excellent lightweight and energy absorption capabilities, and additive manufacturing techniques provide a unique degree of freedom for lattice structure design. Therefore, in this study, three-period minimum surface (TPMS) structures of Schwarz-P boron steel alloys were prepared by Selective Laser Melting ...

Ductile B2 Intermetallics‐Driven Strength‐Ductility Synergy in Heterolaminated Multi‐Principal Element Alloys

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Intrinsic phase toughening transforms a brittle B2 intermetallic into a plastically deformable, load‐bearing phase, while a heterogeneous laminated architecture suppresses strain localization and interface cracking. The synergy between ductile intermetallics and mesoscale heterogeneity establishes a general design strategy for breaking the long ...

MgP4/CNT‐Graphene Embedded in Hard Carbon Matrix as a High‐Capacity Anode for Next‐Generation Sodium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Phosphorus‐rich MgP4 is introduced as a high capacity anode for sodium‐ion batteries (SIBs) via hybrid carbon matrix engineering. A sequential CNT/G assembly forms a conductive and mechanically robust network, delivering a high reversible capacity of 1386 mAh g−1 while stabilizing alloying reactions.
