Chemical and physical pretreatments of microalgal biomass [PDF]
Non-axenic microalga Chlorella sorokiniana was cultivated in batch cultures, and its total sugar composition was determined. The microalga under study showed a total sugar concentration of 21.44 ± 0.46% (w/w).

ABSTRACT Heavy metals in environmental waste can pollute the environment and disrupt human health if not managed properly. Heavy metal contamination from industrial waste, particularly cobalt (Co) and lead (Pb), poses serious environmental and health risks due to their toxicity, persistence, and bioaccumulative nature.

ABSTRACT Greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions have emerged as one of the most critical drivers of climate change; this is primarily due to high concentrations and long atmospheric life of carbon dioxide (CO2). For a significant amount of time, various biological processes such as microalgal cultivation, cyanobacterial systems, photosynthetic microorganisms ...

Coupled effect of torrefaction and blending on chemical and energy properties for combustion of major open burned agriculture residues in Thailand [PDF]
Thailand is an agriculture-based country. It produces large amounts of open burned agricultural residues. A strategy to use them as biofuel all year round is to enhance their fuel properties by coupling blending and thermochemical pre-treatment.

Optimizing biomass use for carbon storage and land use with the OptiBiU model
Abstract Optimal biomass use in a circular bioeconomy requires a system perspective to guide decision‐making. The Optimizing Biomass Use (OptiBiU) model was developed for this purpose. The model distinguishes among primary biomass production, intermediate products, and biobased products, and incorporates recycling.
