Repeated likelihood ratio tests
Biometrika, 1979SUMMARY We study the actual significance level which results from performing repeated likelihood ratio tests over time. We present a general method for estimating the actual significance level when sampling from an exponential family, and apply it to problems of testing hypotheses about means, variance, correlations and failure rates.

Paternity testing. 2: Likelihood ratio tests
American Journal of Medical Genetics, 1985AbstractIt is known that the so‐called paternity index is also a likelihood ratio statistic for testing that an alleged father is the true father. Unfortunately the likelihood ratio test can sometimes lead to unsatisfactory results because of its dependence on the phenotype combinations of the mother and child. A new, conditional likelihood ratio test,

The likelihood ratio test for the Hill model
Journal of Biopharmaceutical Statistics, 2017The Hill model is used to describe many biological phenomena to specify the dose-response relationship in clinical trials and other applications. When testing the null hypothesis of no curve versus the Hill model, the likelihood ratio test (LRT) does not exhibit the appropriate Type I error rate.

In the previous chapter, we have seen that UMP or UMP-unbiased tests exist only for some special families of distributions, while they do not exist for other families.

Likelihood ratio and associated test criteria
Biometrika, 1971SUMMARY A more accurate approximation is derived for the power function of the likelihood ratio criterion for testing a simple null hypothesis against a class of composite alternative hypotheses. Two rival test statistics suggested by Rao (1965) and asymptotically equivalent to the likelihood ratio procedure are examined and approximations are obtained

Bartlett corrections to likelihood ratio tests
Biometrika, 1995SUMMARY This note resolves two conflicting published corrections to Hayakawa's (1977) expansion of the likelihood ratio statistic, one of which suggests that a coefficient in the expansion is always zero and therefore irrelevant, the other suggesting that the formula for the coefficient is in error and that the coefficient should not be present.

Robust properties of likelihood ratio tests
Biometrika, 1982SUMMARY The usual asymptotic chi-squared distribution for the likelihood ratio test statistic is based on the assumptions that the data come from the parametric model under consideration and that the parameter satisfies the null hypothesis. In this paper we examine the distribution of the likelihood ratio statistic when the data do not come from the ...

Likelihood‐Ratio Tests for Hidden Markov Models
Biometrics, 2000Summary.We consider hidden Markov models as a versatile class of models for weakly dependent random phenomena. The topic of the present paper is likelihood‐ratio testing for hidden Markov models, and we show that, under appropriate conditions, the standard asymptotic theory of likelihood‐ratio tests is valid. Such tests are crucial in the specification
