Forwarding forest restoration: Seven key socio‐ecological issues for advancing forest restoration in a world in flux

open access: yesPeople and Nature, EarlyView.
Abstract Restoring forests can help conserve biodiversity, mitigate climate change and enhance human well‐being. Despite financial and political support for global forest restoration initiatives, projects continue to face persistent challenges and trade‐offs between environmental, climatic and socio‐economic goals.

Mechanical Performance Under Compressive Load of Carboxylated Nitrile Rubber and Kraft Lignin Composites

open access: yesPolymer Composites, EarlyView.
Lignin dispersion in carboxylated nitrile rubber (XNBR) is enhanced at 7% carboxylic acid, significantly improving the composite's compressive mechanical performance for sealing applications. ABSTRACT Lignin is a promising biobased material that enhances the sustainability of rubber composites as a reinforcing filler.

Flowering out of sync: Climate change alters the reproductive phenology of Terminalia paniculata in the Western Ghats of India

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, EarlyView.
Understanding how climate change impacts the plant life cycle is critical for maintaining biodiversity and ecosystem services. Our findings suggest that Terminalia paniculata Roth, a common tropical deciduous tree species in the Western Ghats, is now flowering and fruiting at more scattered times than it used to in the past.

Connecting tradition and technology: The digitization of the ethnobotanical collection at the Rio de Janeiro Botanical Garden

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, EarlyView.
The digitization of RBetno (JBRJ) represents a step forward for biodiversity conservation in Brazil. Aligned with the Kunming‐Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (Target 2, 2020–2030), this project documents the use of plants, including traditional knowledge and vernacular names, with a focus on the Atlantic Forest and Amazon.
