The Limerick

Limerick is a poetic form which is typical for English-speaking countries. It is easily recognized by its form and meter. Limerick is capable of expressing any topic, being nearly always humourous, witty and nonsensical. The popularity of limerick reached its peak after 1860s, due to the second edition of Edward Lear's /A Book of Nonsense/.
