Fluorescence of Limestones and Limestone Components
Applied Spectroscopy, 1997The fluorescence of a series of limestones has been investigated; the relative fluorescence intensities of these limestones differ by a factor of 10. With UV excitation, the fluorescence spectra of these limestones exhibit two distinct peaks, one blue and one red; the relative magnitude of the blue peak is larger for more fluorescent limestone.

Cementation scenarios for New Zealand Cenozoic nontropical limestones
Cenozoic limestones are widely distributed in New Zealand, especially in the Oligocene-earliest Miocene in both islands, and the Pliocene-Pleistocene in North Island.

A comparative study of porous limestones treated with silicon-based strengthening agents
Δημοσίευση σε επιστημονικό περιοδικόSummarization: Porous bioclastic limestones of small pore radii and sandy limestones of large pore radii were treated with silicon-based strengthening products, such as tetraethoxysilane, elastified silicic acid ethyl ...

Kinetics of sulphation of limestone and precalcined limestone
Chemical Engineering and Processing: Process Intensification, 1991Abstract The kinetics of sulphation of large (2–4 mm) limestone and precalcined limestone particles were investigated at temperatures below the decomposition temperature of CaCO3. In both cases it was found that, over a wide range of conditions, the sulphation rate decays with t− 1 2 , indicating that diffusion of SO2 through the product CaSO4 ...

Black limestone used in antiquity: recognizing the limestone of Teos
Archaeometry, 2018This paper documents the petrographic and isotopic characteristics of some black limestones that were exploited in antiquity near the ancient site of Teos in Ionia (south‐western Anatolia, Turkey). The best‐quality black limestone of Teos is represented by a series of step‐cut‐shaped blocks situated north of the Seferihisar–Sığacık road, destined to be
