High‐Mobility and Low Carrier Concentration Transparent Conducting Oxide Rear Contact for Bifacial CIGS Solar Cells

open access: yesProgress in Photovoltaics: Research and Applications, EarlyView.
This study investigates high‐mobility, low carrier concentration (CC) transparent conducting oxides (TCOs) as back contacts in bifacial Cu (In, Ga)Se2 (CIGS) solar cells. These TCOs enhance rear‐side light absorption in CIGS and external quantum efficiency, improving overall performance by offering high transparency, low reflectance, and maintaining ...

Silver‐Alloyed Wide‐Bandgap (Ag,Cu)(In,Ga)S2 Thin‐Film Solar Cells With 15.5% Efficiency

open access: yesProgress in Photovoltaics: Research and Applications, EarlyView.
This study reports improvements in compositional homogeneity, microstructure, enhanced radiative recombination, and extended carrier lifetime of CIGS absorber via Ag incorporation. The optimal Ag‐alloyed CIGS solar cells achieve 15.5% PCE and 948 mV VOC, competing with the VOC of the Ag‐free reference sample from the same batch.

Irrigation using slightly saline water from emerging desalination technologies as a solution to short‐term drought

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, EarlyView.
With global weather patterns becoming more extreme and unpredictable, sourcing reliable irrigation water is vital for improving food security and conserving drinking water in drought‐prone areas. Emerging desalination technologies, which are still in the development phase, could potentially provide large quantities of slightly saline water for ...
