Bridging Nature and Technology: A Perspective on Role of Machine Learning in Bioinspired Ceramics
Machine learning (ML) is revolutionizing the development of bioinspired ceramics. This article investigates how ML can be used to design new ceramic materials with exceptional performance, inspired by the structures found in nature. The research highlights how ML can predict material properties, optimize designs, and create advanced models to unlock a ...

Subgrain and Cavity Development during Creep of Al‐3.85%Mg
Al‐3.85%Mg does form subgrains if crept at very high strains. This fact allows the unification of the creep description in two different alloys such as pure Al and Al–Mg alloys. It is classically considered that the creep mechanisms for type M (e.g., pure Al) and type A alloys (e.g., Al–Mg alloys) are different.

Corona, mathematics, and the limits of democratic control
Maturity and citizenship in a democracy require that laypersons are able to critically reflect on experts’ use of mathematics. Learning to critically reflect on the use of mathematics, including the learning of mathematics required to that end, have been repeatedly postulated as indispensable goals of compulsory education in mathematics.

This study presents a 3D representative volume element‐based simulation approach to predict mesoscopic residual stress and strain fields in silicon solid solution‐strengthened ductile cast iron. By modeling phase transformation kinetics with an enhanced Johnson–Mehl–Avrami–Kolmogorov model, the effects of varying cooling rates on residual stresses are ...

Limit cycles by FEM for a one - parameter dynamical system associated to the Luo - Rudy I model
An one - parameter dynamical system is associated to the mathematical problem governing the membrane excitability of a ventricular cardiomyocyte, according to the Luo-Rudy I model. Limit cycles are described by the solutions of an extended system.

Cubic Bézier curves are used in the synthesis of novel surface‐based metamaterials with tunable mechanical properties. Surface‐based geometries are 3D printed and tested in compression. The resulting mechanical properties are correlated to changes in the shape of the base curve, with high potential in energy absorption through the adjustment of their ...
