Zooplankton functional traits in a tropical estuarine system: Are lower and upper estuaries functionally different?

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science, 2022
Functional diversity measures help to understand the underlying mechanisms explaining the relationship between organisms and environment. This work examined the mesozooplankton community of an estuary under the hypothesis that the upper (< 25 psu) and

Ajuste de un modelo VAR como predictor de los campos de anomalías de precipitación en centroamérica

open access: yesRevista de Matemática: Teoría y Aplicaciones, 2012
Cluster analysis was used to identify common patterns of 15 precipitation points of the region, using their anomaly time series as grouping variables. Five clusters where identified through this process.

Standardized Drought Indices for Pre-Summer Drought Assessment in Tropical Areas

open access: yesAtmosphere, 2020
The main climatic indices used for the determination of pre-summer drought severity were developed for temperate zones with very different climatic conditions from those found in the tropical climate zones, particularly with respect to seasonal rainfall ...

Shifts in the Oligotrophic Warm Conditions of the Gulf of Mexico Over MIS‐6 to MIS‐1 Based on Planktonic Foraminifera Assemblages and Mg/Ca Ratios

open access: yesPaleoceanography and Paleoclimatology, Volume 40, Issue 1, January 2025.
Abstract Collected from the southwestern Gulf of Mexico (GoM), the marine piston Core RC10‐265 was used to reconstruct surface water masses, circulation and paleotemperature shifts at orbital scales over the last ∼180 ka. The chronology was constructed based on radiocarbon ages, planktonic foraminifera biostratigraphy and stable oxygen isotopes (δ18O).

Central American climate extreme trends: A statistical analysis of CLIMDEX indices

open access: yesInternational Journal of Climatology, Volume 44, Issue 11, Page 4115-4126, September 2024.
Trends of extreme temperature indices show more consistent, robust and widespread significant results according with the observed warming of the region. Significant extreme precipitation indices trends are more localized, and therefore harder to analyze, but it seems that one robust result from several indices is the trend toward more intense extreme ...
