Seascape Genomics Uncovers Genomic Patterns Shaped by Temperature and Salinity Outlier Loci in Dolphinfish (Coryphaena hippurus Linnaeus, 1758) Across the Atlantic Ocean and Mediterranean Sea

open access: yesAquatic Conservation: Marine and Freshwater Ecosystems, Volume 36, Issue 2, February 2026.
ABSTRACT In this study, we explored the population genetic structure and its relation to environmental adaptations of the dolphinfish (Coryphaena hippurus) in the western Atlantic Ocean and Mediterranean Sea. Although previously two populations within the Mediterranean Sea were identified, recent evidence suggests more complex structuring.

Effects of Submerged Macrophytes on Demography and Filtration Rates of Daphnia and Simocephalus (Crustacea: Cladocera)

open access: yesPlants
Macrophytes and cladocerans represent the main antagonistic groups that regulate phytoplankton biomass; however, the mechanism behind this interaction is unclear.

Growth performance and gene expression of FAS, CPT1, G6P, and HK in juveniles of the freshwater prawn, Macrobrachium acanthurus, fed diets with different levels of protein, lipids, and carbohydrates

open access: yesJournal of the World Aquaculture Society, 2023
A feeding trial with Macrobrachium acanthurus juveniles was performed to determine growth performance and utilization of diets varying in protein, lipid, and carbohydrate level.

Simulating climate change scenarios established by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change in aquatic mesocosms

open access: yesLimnology and Oceanography: Methods, Volume 24, Issue 2, February 2026.
Abstract Climate change poses a major threat to ecosystems worldwide, with temperature changes being a key driver of ecological disruption in aquatic environments due to the limited ability of many aquatic species to relocate in response. Despite advances in aquatic experimental approaches to temperature control, most studies rely on simplified warming

Vulnerability of marine megafauna to global at‐sea anthropogenic threats

open access: yesConservation Biology, Volume 40, Issue 1, February 2026.
Abstract Marine megafauna species are affected by a wide range of anthropogenic threats. To evaluate the risk of such threats, species’ vulnerability to each threat must first be determined. We build on the existing threats classification scheme and ranking system of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List of Threatened ...

Micro‐Refuges or Ecological Traps: Context‐Dependent Effects of Rock Pools on Intertidal Biodiversity Across Latitudes

open access: yesGlobal Ecology and Biogeography, Volume 35, Issue 2, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Aim We investigated how local‐scale environmental heterogeneity influences biodiversity patterns across broad biogeographic gradients, using intertidal microhabitats as a model system within one of the most environmentally stressful ecosystems on Earth.

How Management Practices Shape the “Local Habitat Signature” That Modulates Bird Communities in Urban Green Spaces

open access: yesBiotropica, Volume 58, Issue 1, January 2026.
Local scale factors, not just the broad urban gradient, are the key drivers of urban bird communities. Our multi‐scale study found that specific management practices, such as managing leaf litter depth or the presence of unmanaged tall grass, explained the largest portion of variation in bird composition.

Anthropogenic Barriers Limit Fish Access to Essential Habitats in the Amazon in the Face of Climate Change

open access: yesGlobal Change Biology, Volume 32, Issue 1, January 2026.
Rivers across the Amazon Basin are increasingly threatened by climate change and dam construction, which restrict fish movements. We combined climate projections with river‐network connectivity analyses to identify where suitable habitats for frugivorous and socioeconomically important fish are likely to persist and where access may be lost due to ...
