Distribution patterns of the two genetic groups of Corbicula fluminea in a lotic-lentic system. [PDF]
Habitat environments driving population divergence are a core idea of the ecological speciation hypothesis. However, little is known regarding this hypothesis in invertebrates. This study validated the morphologically and genetically diverging groups with different habitat preferences for Corbicula fluminea in a lotic–lentic system, which suggests a ...

Effects of different hydrological conditions on the taxonomic structure and functional traits of mollusk communities in a large floodplain wetland. [PDF]
Flash drought (FD) strongly reduced mollusk taxa diversity and led to a sudden shift in the trait structure. Normal drought is a moderate disturbance in floodplain wetland of Poyang Lake. Deposit feeding, aerial respiration and dormancy help mollusks survive in FD.

We developed a suite of primers to detect fish and aquatic invertebrates based on global lists of invasive species. The method used here combined high sensitivity PCR primer sets with high‐throughput sequencing (HTS), called targeted metabarcoding.

A global synthesis of ecosystem services provided and disrupted by freshwater bivalve molluscs
ABSTRACT Identification of ecosystem services, i.e. the contributions that ecosystems make to human well‐being, has proven instrumental in galvanising public and political support for safeguarding biodiversity and its benefits to people. Here we synthesise the global evidence on ecosystem services provided and disrupted by freshwater bivalves, a ...

Economic costs of invasive bivalves in freshwater ecosystems
Abstract Aim To assess spatio‐temporal and taxonomic patterns of available information on the costs of invasive freshwater bivalves, as well as to identify knowledge gaps. Location Global. Time period 1980–2020. Taxon studied Bivalvia. Methods We synthesize published global economic costs of impacts from freshwater bivalves using the InvaCost database ...

Omics‐based molecular analyses of adhesion by aquatic invertebrates
ABSTRACT Many aquatic invertebrates are associated with surfaces, using adhesives to attach to the substratum for locomotion, prey capture, reproduction, building or defence. Their intriguing and sophisticated biological glues have been the focus of study for decades.

Promoting facilitative interactions through plant–bivalve co‐restoration can increase restoration success. The prevalence of positive interactions depends on habitat and environmental conditions such as temperature, and was especially important in subtidal habitats (involving both infaunal and epifaunal bivalves) and in intertidal habitats (involving ...

Ranking Ecological Risk of Metals to Freshwater Organisms in Lake Taihu, China
Due to the persistence and the high toxicity of metals to many aquatic organisms, metals in aquatic ecosystems have attracted considerable attention. The objective of the present study was to rank metals in Lake Taihu based on the threat they pose to aquatic organisms.
