Lindane Exposure Impairs Ca2+- Mediated Vascular Reactivity [PDF]
y-hexachlorocyclohexane (g-HCH, lindane) is a halogenated organic insecticide used worldwide. Lindane is a persistent organic environmental pollutant and it can easily volatilize from water and soil into air and be transported long distances by natural ...

Low-dose induction of micronuclei by lindane.
Environmental contaminants possessing hormonal activity have long been suspected of playing a role in cancer causation. What is unclear is whether such agents elicit their effects through genotoxic and/or epigenetic mechanisms.

The 2024 European Union report on pesticide residues in food
Abstract Under European Union legislation (Article 32, Regulation (EC) No 396/2005), the European Food Safety Authority publishes an annual report assessing pesticide residue levels in food. In 2024, 9842 samples were analysed as part of the EU‐coordinated multiannual control programme subset, of which 1.2% were found to be non‐compliant.

Photoactivity of Immobilized Titanium Dioxide (TiO2 ) in Lindane Degradation [PDF]
Introduction and study objectives: Lindane is a generic name for γ-hexachlorocyclohexane, one of the isomers from the group of Hexachlorocyclohexanes (HCH) [1].

ABSTRACT Lindane (γ‐hexachlorocyclohexane, γ‐HCH) is a broad‐spectrum pesticide widely used since the 1950s until its inclusion in the Stockholm Convention list of Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) in 2009, together with other HCH isomers. The high persistence and mismanagement of the toxic wastes generated during its synthesis have led to serious ...

Reductive lindane degradation with tea extracts in aqueous phase
Lindane is a persistent organochlorine pesticide (OCP) that is chemically stable, and has high lipid solubility. These characteristics allow it to bioaccumulate through the food chain, and therefore its presence in the environment is of great concern. An

Basic characteristics of epileptiform discharges triggered by lindane in rats [PDF]
Introduction: EEG is a widely used method of epilepsy examination. In order to quantitatively inspect ictal EEG findings, a number of mathematical models have been developed over the years, one of them being the Fast Fourier Transform (FFT).

Use of a Simple GIS-Based Model in Mapping the Atmospheric Concentration of γ-HCH in Europe
The state-of-the-art of atmospheric contaminant transport modeling provides accurate estimation of chemical concentrations. However, existing complex models, sophisticated in terms of process description and potentially highly accurate, may entail ...

Mixture of organic pollutants is associated with cognitive aging
Abstract INTRODUCTION Environmental organic pollutants impact brain function and cognitive aging, but the effect of real‐world complex mixtures of these pollutants is unexplored. METHODS Using data collected at two time points from 170 cognitively normal adults, we used hierarchical Bayesian kernel machine regression to examine the association between ...

Multiple OCP isomers and/or metabolites along with their parent compounds were detected in commonly consumed fruits and vegetables of Bangladesh, possibly attributed to both recently and historically applied OCPs. However, all the detected values were below 0.01 mg/kg, indicating no potential human health risks through dietary intake. ABSTRACT Globally,
