Bayesian Estimation Under Various Loss Functions With Application to the Odd Kappa–Exponential Distribution

open access: yesJournal of Probability and Statistics
This work examines Bayesian estimations of the reliability function and the parameters of the Odd Kappa–Exponential distribution using different symmetric and asymmetric loss functions.

Dissecting the genetic basis of drought escape across multiple traits in colonizing Arabidopsis thaliana lineages

open access: yesNew Phytologist, EarlyView.
Cape Verde Islandspopulations experience seasonal drought and high humidity during the growing season, driving drought escape strategies relative to their Moroccan outgroup. Summary Drought response in plants is complex, involving integration across a range of physiological processes.

Estimating the Shape Parameter of Topp–Leone Distribution Based on Progressive Type II Censored Samples

open access: yesRevstat Statistical Journal, 2016
In this paper, classical and Bayesian point estimations of the Topp–Leone distribution shape parameter are studied when the sample is progressive Type II censored. The maximum likelihood estimator (MLE) of the unknown parameter is proposed.

Examining HbA1c in Frail Older Adults: A Linked Data Cohort Study

open access: yesAustralasian Journal on Ageing, Volume 45, Issue 2, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Objective Diabetes and frailty pose a significant issue for society. Previous research has shown a mixed relationship between diabetes and frailty in older people, indicating a complex interrelationship. The aim of this study was to examine the association between routinely collected HbA1c testing data and frailty in a large cohort from ...

A Decade of Airborne Electromagnetic Surveying Lake Menindee (Australia) Under Varying Water Levels

open access: yesGeophysical Prospecting, Volume 74, Issue 4, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Time domain airborne electromagnetic (AEM) surveying is a mature geophysical tool for imaging the Earth's shallow subsurface. It produces images of the electromagnetic conductivity structure of the earth, down to depths of a few hundred metres.

Polyethylene tarping elevates temperature and reduces emergence of Phloeosinus punctatus LeConte (Coleoptera: Curculionidae) from giant sequoia debris piles

open access: yesAgricultural and Forest Entomology, Volume 28, Issue 2, Page 265-269, May 2026.
Phloeosinus bark beetles may build up large populations in branch debris piles and stress giant sequoia trees. Covering debris piles with polyethylene sheeting increased the mean ambient temperature in piles and reduced beetle emergence. This was mediated by canopy structure, where ambient temperatures were further elevated under open canopies.

Delay Properties of Energy Efficient Ethernet Networks

open access: yes, 2017
Networking operational costs and environmental concerns have lately driven the quest for energy efficient equipment. In wired networks, energy efficient Ethernet (EEE) interfaces can greatly reduce power demands when compared to regular Ethernet ...

A multilevel Ornstein–Uhlenbeck process with individual‐ and variable‐specific estimates as random effects

open access: yesBritish Journal of Mathematical and Statistical Psychology, Volume 79, Issue 2, Page 325-340, May 2026.
Abstract In the present study, we extend a stochastic differential equation (SDE) model, the Ornstein–Uhlenbeck (OU) process, to the simultaneous analysis of time series of multiple variables by means of random effects for individuals and variables using a Bayesian framework.

The benefits of US foreign aid in rural US communities: The case of northwestern North Carolina

open access: yesDevelopment Policy Review, Volume 44, Issue 3, May 2026.
Abstract Motivation This study analyses the underexplored domestic benefits of US foreign aid by evaluating the long‐term impacts of two strategic international exchange programmes—the Fulbright Teaching Excellence and Achievement (TEA) Program and the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders—that were implemented over a decade through ...

Compound‐Specific Stable Isotope Analysis Reveals Population‐Specific Differences in Chinook Salmon Trophic Level and Basal Resource Use in the Northeast Pacific

open access: yesFisheries Oceanography, Volume 35, Issue 3, Page 397-412, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Chinook salmon exhibit far‐flung and disparate population‐specific marine migrations that have made it difficult to assess their trophic ecology. In this study, we collected returning and resident subadult Fraser River Chinook salmon in 2018 and 2019 from population groups with different known run‐timings (spring, summer, and fall) and marine ...
