The Folded Normal Distribution: A New Model for the Small-Scale Fading in Line-of-Sight (LOS) Condition [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
[EN] In this paper, a novel form of the folded normal (FN) distribution has been proposed to model the small-scale fading in wireless communications. From a multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) measurement campaign conducted in a lab environment with the line-of-sight (LOS) conditions at both the 60 and the 94 GHz bands, the authors obtain the ...

LoRaWAN Based Indoor Localization Using Random Neural Networks

open access: yesInformation, 2022
Global Positioning Systems (GPS) are frequently used as a potential solution for localization applications. However, GPS does not work indoors due to a lack of direct Line-of-Sight (LOS) satellite signals received from the End Device (ED) due to thick ...

Development of a Disease Activity Index for the Assessment of VEXAS Syndrome (VEXAS‐DAI)

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Vacuoles, E1 enzyme, X‐linked, autoinflammatory, somatic syndrome (VEXAS) syndrome is characterized by a complex spectrum of inflammatory and hematologic manifestations. Clinical research to identify effective therapies is urgently needed but is hindered by the lack of validated outcome measures.

Set-based Line-of-Sight (LOS) path following with collision avoidance for underactuated unmanned surface vessel [PDF]

open access: yes2016 24th Mediterranean Conference on Control and Automation (MED), 2016
A cornerstone ability of an autonomous unmanned surface vessel (USV) is to avoid collisions with stationary obstacles and other moving vehicles while following a predefined path. USVs are typically underactuated, and this paper extends recent results in set-based guidance theory to an underactuated surface vessel, resulting in a switched guidance ...

Current Status and Challenges in Data Collection for Aerospace Coatings Deposited by Plasma Spraying

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An innovative approach has been integrated into the GRENAT project to optimize plasma spraying and coating performance. Raw materials are accelerated and melted in the plasma generated by torches, creating coatings. Monitoring sensors collect process data which are combined with ex situ characterization data.
