Comparison of Non-elliptic Contact Models [Elektronisk resurs] : Towards Fast and Accurate Modelling of Wheel-Rail Contact

open access: yes, 2012
The demand to investigate and predict the surface deterioration phenomenain the wheel-rail interface necessitates fast and accurate contact modelling.During the past twenty years, there have been attempts to determine more realisticcontact patch and ...

Near‐Field Electrospinning Micro‐Printhead Achieves Precise Control of Nanofiber Deposition

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A micro‐printhead for near‐field electrospinning enables reproducible deposition of polymer nanofibers with diameters below 50 nm. Systematic parameter studies uncover the mechanisms linking operating conditions to fiber morphology, paving the way for precise and low‐cost nanoscale 3D manufacturing. As a high‐resolution, cost‐effective, and rapid ...

Powder Optimization Strategies for Binder Jetting Printing of BaTiO3 and Ba0,6Sr0,4TiO3 Ceramics

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Powder optimization is investigated to enable binder jetting of BaTiO3 and Ba0.6Sr0.4TiO3 ferroelectric ceramics. The antagonistic relationship between flowability and binder compatibility is addressed through binder impregnation of granulated powders and fumed silica addition to fine powders.

Contact line bundles, foliations and integrability

open access: yesSbornik: Mathematics
We formulate the definition of the noncommutative integrability of contact systems on a contact manifold $(M,\mathcal H)$ using the Jacobi structure on the space of sections $\Gamma(L)$ of a contact line bundle $L$. In the cooriented case, if the line bundle is trivial and $\mathcal H$ is the kernel of a globally defined contact form $\alpha$, the ...

'Be at work and well, or don't be at all'::The role of line management for the support of employees with mental health problems

open access: yes, 2013
The vast majority of research that examines the relationship between work and mental health emerges from occupational psychology and focuses on the characteristics of work that predict employee wellbeing (e.g. Warr, 1987, Kahn and Byosiere, 1991).

Evaluating Energy Absorption Performance of Filled Lattice Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Maximum stress must be considered to robustly evaluate energy absorber designs. This approach was applied to compare all types of absorbers in a single Ashby diagram and determine the utility of filling lattice voids with a second material. High‐performance fillers can improve the performance of lattices that are limited by buckling or catastrophic ...

Incorporation of Selenium into Sol–Gel‐Derived Bioactive Glass: Influence on Glass Structure, Bioactivity, and its Selective Cytotoxicity

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Selenium was incorporated into a sol–gel‐derived bioactive glass to enable sustained therapeutic ion release. The selenium‐containing glass preserved bioactivity while selectively inducing cytotoxicity in osteosarcoma cells and maintaining osteoblastic viability.

Motion of the triple contact line

open access: yes, 2005
We propose an equation that describes the shape of the driven contact line in dynamics in presence of arbitrary (possibly random) distribution of the surface defects.
