SYNCHRONIZATION DEFECT LINES

International Journal of Bifurcation and Chaos, 2000
Spatially distributed reaction–diffusion media where the local dynamics exhibits complex oscillatory or chaotic dynamics are investigated. Spiral waves in such complex-oscillatory or excitable media contain synchronization defect lines which separate domains of different oscillation phases and across which the phase changes by multiples of 2π.

Line Defects and the Glass Transition

Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences, 1981
The structure of glasses contains line defects, characterized by oddness rather than intensity. The density of these defects in equilibrium, above a given temperature T0 where they are free to move, is proportional to the fluidity of the supercooled liquid and follows a simple function of the temperature known empirically as the VOGEL-FULCHER law.

Charge Transport in Borophene: Role of Intrinsic Line Defects

Journal of Physical Chemistry C, 2019
Very recently, the borophene line defects assembled with υ1/6 and υ1/5 rows were experimentally observed. As the lightest 2D metal sheet, borophene may realize applications in transparent electronic interconnects and electrodes.

Helical edge states of topological photonic crystals with line defects.

Applied Optics, 2019
Topologically protected edge states of honeycomb photonic crystals (PCs) have been extensively studied in recent years. Here we propose several optimized two-dimensional PC configurations with distinct line defects introduced by breaking the C6 symmetry ...

Development of Power Transmission Line Defects Diagnosis System for UAV Inspection based on Binocular Depth Imaging Technology

International Conference on Electrical Materials and Power Equipment, 2019
China's transmission lines are widely distributed. The power department spends huge manpower and material resources every year on transmission line patrolling.

Stable line defects in silicene

Physical Review B, 2015
Line defects in two-dimensional (2D) materials greatly modulate various properties of their pristine form. Using ab initio molecular dynamics (AIMD) simulations, we investigate the structural reconstructions of different kinds of grain boundaries in the silicene sheets. It is evident that depending upon the presence of silicon adatoms and edge shape of

On Guided Waves Created by Line Defects

Journal of Statistical Physics, 2008
Guided waves in photonic crystal fibers are studied. Here a photonic crystal is treated as though it is a perfect two-dimensional photonic crystal with a line defect in the axial direction. By assuming that the background spectrum has gaps, a simple condition is found on the parameters of the medium and on the line defect, that ensures the rise of the ...

Carbon Nanotubes with an Extended Line Defect

Small, 2008
Using concepts of defects in graphene lattices (see image) a new class of semiconducting carbon nanotubes is predicted, with an unusual one-dimensional electronic structure. These CNTs are of comparable stability to known carbon nanostructures, have similar mechanical properties, and may be useful in applications based on a combination of electronic ...
