On Line Change Detection with Nuisance Parameters
IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 2006Abstract Dealing with nuisance parameters is an important issue in on-line monitoring safety-critical complex systems and detecting events/changes that affect their functioning. A linear stochastic-dynamical system with deterministic nuisance parameters and additive changes is considered in the paper.

Outlier Detection for Line Matching
2019Finding counterparts for straight lines over multiple images is a fundamental task in image processing, and the base for 3D reconstruction methods using segments. This paper introduces novel insights to improve the state-of-the-art unsupervised line matching over groups of images, aimed to source geometrical relations for 3D reconstruction algorithms ...

SLIDE: subspace-based line detection
IEEE International Conference on Acoustics Speech and Signal Processing, 1993The SLIDE (subspace-based line detection) algorithm, a technique for estimating parameters of multiple straight lines in an image, is described. By reformulating the line fitting problem into a spectral estimation framework, SLID exploits subspace-based techniques of sensor array processing to obtain high resolution and closed-form estimates for the ...

On the detectability of forbidden lines
Journal of Quantitative Spectroscopy and Radiative Transfer, 1977Abstract We show that the traditional interpretation of the non-detection of forbidden lines in dense natural plasmas is based on a misunderstanding. The central intensity of the line, taken to be a measure of detectability, is shown to have a maximum as a function of electron density and to be a linear function of electron density in tenuous plasmas.

An image analysis problem can often be described as a task of recognizing patterns in images. Example patterns are straight lines and curve-like structures. The Hough transform is a highly effective algorithm for detecting straight lines in images and is the topic of the first part of the chapter.
