On-line prediction of closest loadability margins using neural networks
TENCON 2007 - 2007 IEEE Region 10 Conference, 2007Determining loadability margins to various security limits is of great importance for the secure operation of a power system. In this paper, a novel approach based on neural networks is proposed for online prediction of the closest loadability margin. For each operating point, the closest loadability margin is calculated using a pair of multiple power ...

Extended transmission line loadability curve by including voltage stability constrains
2008 IEEE Canada Electric Power Conference, 2008St. Clair curve provides a simple means for estimating power transfer capabilities of transmission lines. It concerns three limiting factors: thermal limit, voltage quality (or drop) limit, and angular stability limit. This paper illustrates the influence of voltage stability limit and presents an extended loadability curve.

Analytical Development of Loadability Characteristics for EHV and UHV Transmission Lines
IEEE Transactions on Power Apparatus and Systems, 1979This paper contains the development of an analytical basis for the St. Clair line loadability curve and presents the extension of its use into the EHV and UHV transmission area. A brief historical background describes the origin and pertinent aspects of the St.

Application of line loadability concepts to operating studies
IEEE Transactions on Power Systems, 1988The author describes a methodology for determining the loading limits of extra-high-voltage transmission lines, taking into account the system environment under which these lines operate. This methodology is based on the line loadability concepts developed for planning applications and extends their use to operating studies.

Reactive compensation techniques for increasing loadability of long primary distribution lines
Proceedings of the 37th Annual North American Power Symposium, 2005., 2005Electric networks often consist of remote cities or villages with low population densities, which consume a considerably small amount of energy. This can be in the order of a few megawatts for places that are up to 100 km away from the source. Typical uncompensated primary distribution lines are not an effective option for these situations, since line ...

Line loadability analysis including var supply capability and load voltage characteristics
2008 Third International Conference on Electric Utility Deregulation and Restructuring and Power Technologies, 2008If the reactive power (var) supply capability is not constrained; the transmission line loadability may be limited by the angle or thermal static stability. Once the reactive power supply is limited or not great enough to support the operation, the transmission line loadability will be limited by voltage.

The use of isotachophoretic (ITP) sample focusing to improve the detection limits for the analysis of charged compounds in capillary electrochromatography (CEC) is described. A coupled-column set-up was used with a 220-microm inner diameter capillary, in which counterflow ITP focusing was performed, connected via a T-junction to a 75-microm inner ...

An investigation into loadability characteristics of EHV high phase order transmission lines
IEEE Transactions on Power Systems, 1995This paper deals with construction and investigation of loadability characteristics of high phase order (HPO) transmission lines extending the analytical concepts developed over the years for three-phase power systems. An assessment of the benefits of HPO lines in terms of their loadability as constrained by several power system performance and ...
