Fractional frequency transmission system to enhance line loadability in EHVAC & UHVAC long transmission line

2014 International Conference on Advances in Electronics Computers and Communications, 2014
In this paper comparative analysis is carried out for power transmission, for line of 1200km length at 50Hz and 50/3Hz. Test system of 765kV and 1200kV are selected as two transmission voltage levels. Simulation is carried out on test system over Matlab simulink environment. In steps of 25%, computation of sending & receiving end voltages, active power

The Loadability of Overhead Transmission Lines—Part II: Analysis of Double-Circuits and Overall Comparison

IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, 2014
This is the second part of an investigation aimed at providing a thorough technical comparison between traditional and alternative overhead power transmission lines based on the loadability characteristics. The previous Part I has outlined and applied the fundamentals of the loadability analysis to three comparable single-circuit lines.

Reactive Power Constrained Loadability Limits of Series Capacitor Compensated EHV Transmission Lines

IEEE Power Engineering Review, 1987
This paper determines the loadability of a 500 kV series-compensated transmission line that are consistent with available var reserves taking into consideration the distributed nature of the line parameters and the effects of load-voltage characteristics and transformer taps at the load end.

Improved gravitational search algorithm for loadability enhancement of transmission lines using UPFC

International Journal of System Assurance Engineering and Management, 2013
In competitive electricity market, transmission system need to handle increased power transfers due to presence of large number of players. This increased volume of traffic causes network congestion in some of the lines. If the congestion is not relieved, line outage may take place. In order to improve system load ability and remove network congestion,

Variable Parameter Equivalent Model for the Loadability of Key Transmission Line

2013
In order to obtain the loadability of key transmission line under operation, a variable parameter equivalent model of power systems is proposed. This equivalent model was first inferred theoretically. And then, a practical method was given for forecasting equivalent parameters.

Loadability characteristics of single-circuit power transmission lines

2011
The loadability curves of three different types of single-circuit overhead transmission lines are computed and compared in this paper, for line lengths up to 500 km. The examined solutions include traditional 400 kV ac three-phase lines, innovative 325 kV ac four-phase lines, and monopolar 500 kV HVDC lines with metallic return.

Letter to the Editor: A New Line Loadability Index for Radial Distribution Systems

Electric Power Components and Systems, 2008
Abstract Based on the non-negative property of the discriminant of a voltage double-quadratic equation, a new line loadability index, Ls, for radial distribution systems is proposed. The Ls index can be used to assess voltage instability and the line loading margin. This article also mathematically proves the uselessness of an existing line loadability

A New Approach for Line Loadability Enhancement in Restructured Power System

2018
The transmission network plays an important role in deregulated electricity markets because it is the key mechanism for generators to compete in supplying large users and distribution companies. Congestion in transmission network could be one of the primary problems of restructured electric industry. This paper proposes a new method to enhance the line

Enhancement for Power Transfer Loadability in Long Transmission Line by Reactive Power Compensation

2016
This paper presents the reactive power management for 765 kV Extra High Voltage (EHV) transmission system. Reactive power compensation is used to control the power system voltage stability and increase the power transfer capability of the transmission line. The proposed 765 kV transmission line between Sipat—Seoni in India is simulated on PSCAD Library.
