A Compton-thin Solution for the Suzaku X-ray Spectrum of the Seyfert 2 Galaxy Mkn 3

open access: yes, 2015
Mkn 3 is a Seyfert 2 galaxy that is widely regarded as an exemplary Compton-thick AGN. We study the Suzaku X-ray spectrum using models of the X-ray reprocessor that self-consistently account for the Fe K$\alpha$ fluorescent emission line and the ...

Multi‐Soliton Microcombs Enable Ultrafast Nanometric‐Precision Ranging and Photon‐Level Detection

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Our work first demonstrates dual‐multi‐soliton ranging and confirms its multifunctional capability. The method achieves ultrafast and nanometric‐precision measurement. For practical applications, we further extend the multi‐soliton states to photon‐level ranging.

Real‐Time High‐Definition Hyperspectral Endoscopy via Spatial‐Temporal Low‐Frequency‐Stochastic Spectral Encoding

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A real‐time, high‐definition hyperspectral endoscopy is enabled by developing a spatial‐temporal spectral encoding approach based on low‐frequency stochastic filters combined with an encoding‐guided attention network. It provides hyperspectral image of in vivo tissue with fine superficial features, enables visualization of rapid and subtle ...

Non-Line-of-Sight Beacon Identification for Sensor Localization

open access: yesInternational Journal of Distributed Sensor Networks, 2012
In recent years, sensors are often deployed to sense the target environment. Besides the sensed environmental information, sensor's position information itself is very important in most cases.

The first measurement of temperature standard deviation along the line-of-sight in galaxy clusters

open access: yes, 2012
Clusters of galaxies are mainly formed by merging of smaller structures, according to the standard cosmological scenario. If the mass of a substructure is >10% of that of a galaxy cluster, the temperature distribution of the intracluster medium (ICM) in ...

Direct Extracellular Matrix Modulation Attenuates Intestinal Fibrosis via a Fibronectin‐Targeted Approach

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Fibronectin regulates the extracellular matrix (ECM)–myofibroblast cycle through three key steps: (1) its secretion and assembly by myofibroblasts (inhibited by pUR4); (2) collagen deposition along its scaffold (inhibited by R1R2); and (3) integrin α5β1‐mediated mechanotransduction (inhibited by ATN161).

The Homogeneity of Interstellar Oxygen in the Galactic Disk

open access: yes, 2004
We present an analysis of high resolution HST Space Telescope Imaging Spectrograph (STIS) observations of O I 1356 and H I Lyman-alpha absorption in 36 sight lines that probe a variety of Galactic disk environments and include paths that range over ...

Conformal Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces: A Cylindrical Geometry Perspective

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
Cylindrical reconfigurable intelligent surfaces are explored for low‐complexity beam steering using one‐bit meta‐atoms. A multi‐level modeling approach, including optimization‐based synthesis, demonstrates that even minimal hardware can support directive scattering.
