N$^2$LoS: Single-Tag mmWave Backscatter for Robust Non-Line-of-Sight Localization

open access: yes
The accuracy of traditional localization methods significantly degrades when the direct path between the wireless transmitter and the target is blocked or non-penetrable. This paper proposes N2LoS, a novel approach for precise non-line-of-sight (NLoS) localization using a single mmWave radar and a backscatter tag.

Hiding in Plain Sight: Rethinking the Size and Complexity of Iron Age Hillforts in NW Iberia Thanks to Aerial Archaeology and Geophysics

open access: yesArchaeological Prospection, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This paper tackles one key limitation in the analysis of Iron Age communities in the Northwestern Iberian Peninsula: the limited exploration of areas beyond the fortified settlements known as castros (hillforts). The vast majority of archaeological studies have focused exclusively on the areas inside the walls of these settlements, which are ...

Digital Spatial Technologies to Compose the Map of the Southeast Iberia Megalithic Phenomenon. The Case Study of Fonelas (Granada, Spain)

open access: yesArchaeological Prospection, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Megalithic landscapes in Southeast Iberia remain unevenly and insufficiently documented, particularly in rugged areas where traditional survey methods are limited. This paper addresses this gap by applying a multiscalar approach to the megalithic necropolises of the Fardes River (Granada, Spain), with the objective of detecting, documenting ...

Design of an Object Height Detection Model under the Line of Sight (LoS) Communication Line using a Laser Distance Meter

open access: yesJurnal Jartel: Jurnal Jaringan Telekomunikasi, 2019
The world of telecommunications is growing rapidly so that cellular operator providers are trying to upgrade their networks to meet the needs of their customers with good quality. One effort that can be done is to build a new Base Transceiver Station (BTS). The aim of this research is to create a detection tool capable of detecting objects at a certain

Cutting Through the Green: A Case for Grassland Archaeology Using UAV Multispectral Data

open access: yesArchaeological Prospection, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Advances in low‐altitude remote sensing are needed to improve the effectiveness of archaeological prospection in the Netherlands. The geomorphological situation and land use history make applying various remote sensing and geophysical technologies particularly challenging.

“A lot of it is about feel”: The promise of sensory ethnography for anatomical education research

open access: yesAnatomical Sciences Education, EarlyView.
Abstract Ethnographers have constructed rich accounts of cultural settings since the early nineteenth century. A new approach, sensory ethnography, holds great promise for Health Professions Education scholars in its incorporation of the senses, particularly regarding anatomical teaching and learning. In this article, we describe sensory ethnography as

Adaptive Beam Pairing and Local Interpolation for Robust Analytical Beam Training in RIS-Assisted Wideband THz Systems

open access: yesIEEE Open Journal of the Communications Society
Wideband terahertz (THz) communication systems offer ultra-high data rates and low latency for future sixth-generation (6G) networks, but they face severe path loss and beam split effects that degrade direction estimation in reconfigurable intelligent ...

Discovery and Initial Investigation of a New Low Surface Brightness Planetary Nebula Candidate at High Galactic Latitude

open access: yesAstronomische Nachrichten, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Planetary nebulae represent a late evolutionary phase of low‐ to intermediate‐mass stars. In this article, we present the serendipitous discovery of a previously unknown, faint potential Galactic planetary nebula (PN) in the constellation Camelopardalis, identified during a survey‐inspection, aiming at the detection of dwarf companions of the ...

Synergetic Combination of Carbon Xerogels, Graphene Oxide and nano‐ZnO for Aqueous and Organic Supercapacitors

open access: yesBatteries &Supercaps, Volume 8, Issue 3, March 2025.
This work proposes the synthesis of carbon‐based nanostructured materials obtained using ZnO as both nanos‐ template and catalysts simultaneously. During the synthesis, GO was used as a stabiliser, preventing the collapse of the 3D structure and improving its properties in terms of capacitance and surface area.
