On Zm-linear codes and elementary symmetric functions (ad invito) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Let Zm={0,1,...,(m-1)} be the m-ary alphabet, m in IN. This paper gives some new theory and efficient designs of Zm linear error control codes based on the elementary symmetric functions of m-ary words.

Difference Sets and Positive Exponential Sums I. General Properties [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We describe general connections between intersective properties of sets in Abelian groups and positive exponential sums. In particular, given a set A the maximal size of a set whose difference set avoids A will be related to positive exponential sums ...

ZW4864‐mediated inhibition of the β‐catenin/BCL9/BCL9L complex reveals therapeutic potential in bladder cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
BCL9 and BCL9L drive bladder cancer progression by enhancing β‐catenin signaling, promoting proliferation, migration, invasion, and organoid growth. Genetic depletion of BCL9(L) suppresses malignant phenotypes, while pharmacological disruption of the β‐catenin/BCL9(L) complex with ZW4864 inhibits canonical Wnt signaling and tumor‐associated cellular ...

General Codes with m Marks [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
This bachelor's thesis is concerned with results of error-correcting codes theory, which deals with detection and correction of errors, that arise during communication by means of these codes. The aim of this thesis is the explanation of the theory above

Systemic dysregulation of apolipoproteins in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis serum

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a fatal disease that damages motor neurons. This study found that people with ALS show significant changes in blood fats and the proteins that carry them. Several apolipoproteins were higher, lipid balances were altered, and normal protein–lipid relationships were disrupted.

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

Molecular dynamics simulations of positively selected codons in FcγRI reveal novel biochemical binding properties

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Evolutionary analysis across 32 placental mammals identified positive selection at residues H148 and W149 in the immune receptor FcγR1. Ancestral reconstruction combined with molecular dynamics simulations reveals how these mutations may influence receptor structure and dynamics, providing insight into the evolution of antibody recognition and immune ...

On practical design for joint distributed source and network coding [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
This paper considers the problem of communicating correlated information from multiple source nodes over a network of noiseless channels to multiple destination nodes, where each destination node wants to recover all sources. The problem involves a joint

Early‐life high‐fat diet exposure increases Achilles tendon stiffness and induces transcriptomic alterations

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Early‐life exposure to a high‐fat diet altered intact Achilles tendons in rat offspring, making them thinner, stiffer, and molecularly distinct even without injury. These findings suggest that developmental high‐fat diet exposure may impair tendon quality and increase susceptibility to mechanical overload or tendon injury later in life.

Hierarchical models, marginal polytopes, and linear codes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
summary:In this paper, we explore a connection between binary hierarchical models, their marginal polytopes, and codeword polytopes, the convex hulls of linear codes. The class of linear codes that are realizable by hierarchical models is determined.
