Abstract A method is developed, based on the phase portrait determination of quasi harmonic one-dimensional oscillations, which enables us to reveal the weak non-linear distortions of a waveform. The generalized phase portrait of Pc4 ULF waves, recorded by the ISEE satellite, was constructed with the use of the suggested algorithm.
