Residue analysis in linearized elastic inversion

SEG Technical Program Expanded Abstracts 1995, 1995
Amplitude-versus-Offset (AVA) information is used for estimation of the elastic parameters. We introduce a method based on the linearized Zoeppritz equation to separate the linear AVA behavior from the nonlinear and noise terms, which we call the residue.

Piecewise linear elastic–plastic analysis

International Journal for Numerical Methods in Engineering, 1979
AbstractThe purpose of this paper is to show that a mathematical programming method, due to Maier and his co‐workers, of nonlinear structural analysis can be rerformulated so that greater computational efficiences are achived. The methods are designed for a class of elastic–plastic structures under ‘piecewise linear’ assumptions and solve among others ...

Analysis of Linear Elastic Masonry-Like Solids Subjected to Settlements

Key Engineering Materials, 2022
A linear elastic no-tension material model is implemented in this contribution to cope with the analysis of masonry-like solids in case of either elastic or inelastic settlements. Instead of implementing an incremental non-linear approach, an energy-based method is adopted to address the elastic no-tension equilibrium.

Wellbore Stability Analysis: From Linear Elasticity to Postbifurcation Modeling

International Journal of Geomechanics, 2004
This paper reviews some of the progress made on wellbore stability modeling during the last two decades. First we demonstrate the improvement made on mud-pressure predictions by moving from analytic elastic solutions to finite element elastoplastic modeling.

Linearized analysis of Richtmyer–Meshkov flow for elastic materials

Journal of Fluid Mechanics, 2005
We present a study of Richtmyer–Meshkov flow for elastic materials. This flow, in which a material interface is struck by a shock wave, was originally investigated for gases, where growth of perturbations of the interface is observed. Here we consider two elastic materials in frictionless contact.

THERMOELASTIC STRESS ANALYSIS FOR LINEAR ELASTIC BODIES

2006
The stress analysis for elastic cylinders made of polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) under cyclic loading is provided by using FEM. Under the assumption that the elastic moduli depend linearly on the temperature, new fomulae, generalizing the well known Kelvin's formula, are given such that we can estimate the temperature variation on the external surface ...

Analysis of an HDG method for linear elasticity

International Journal for Numerical Methods in Engineering, 2014
SummaryWe present the first a priori error analysis for the first hybridizable discontinuous Galerkin method for linear elasticity proposed in Internat. J. Numer. Methods Engrg. 80 (2009), no. 8, 1058–1092. We consider meshes made of polyhedral, shape‐regular elements of arbitrary shape and show that, whenever piecewise‐polynomial approximations of ...
