Solvability of a theory of anti-plane shear with partially coated boundaries
We consider the anti-plane shear of an elastic solid whose boundary is partially reinforced by a thin solid film represented by the union of a finite number of open curves.

The presence of an edge dislocation in a surface of a two-dimensional precipitate of square shape embedded in a semi-infinite matrix has been discussed when the precipitate is submitted to misfit strain due to the lattice mismatch between the two phases.

Cut Finite Element Methods for Linear Elasticity Problems
We formulate a cut finite element method for linear elasticity based on higher order elements on a fixed background mesh. Key to the method is a stabilization term which provides control of the jumps in the derivatives of the finite element functions ...

Fee-Setting Mechanisms: On Optimal Pricing by Intermediaries and Indirect Taxation [PDF]
Mechanisms according to which private intermediaries or governments charge transaction fees or indirect taxes are prevalent in practice. We consider a setup with multiple buyers and sellers and two-sided independent private information about ...

To integrate multiple transcriptomics data with severe batch effects for identifying MB subtypes, we developed a novel and accurate computational method named RaMBat, which leveraged subtype‐specific gene expression ranking information instead of absolute gene expression levels to address batch effects of diverse data sources.

RIPK4 function interferes with melanoma cell adhesion and metastasis
RIPK4 promotes melanoma growth and spread. RIPK4 levels increase as skin lesions progress to melanoma. CRISPR/Cas9‐mediated deletion of RIPK4 causes melanoma cells to form less compact spheroids, reduces their migratory and invasive abilities and limits tumour growth and dissemination in mouse models.

Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...

The centrally cracked Brazilian disc: implications and solutions in case of closing cracks
A recently presented closed-form analytic solution for the displacement field and stress field in a cracked Brazilian disc, under uniform radial pressure along two symmetric arcs of its periphery, revealed that for a wide range of crack-axis inclinations,

Background: Existing research has shown that retinol binding protein (RBP4) has an impairing effect on arterial elasticity and induces insulin resistance, but the clinical value of RBP4 in patients with coronary heart disease (CHD) combined with type 2 ...

Mixed finite element methods for linear elasticity with weakly imposed symmetry
In this paper, we construct new finite element methods for the approximation of the equations of linear elasticity in three space dimensions that produce direct approximations to both stresses and displacements.
