Stability and free energies in linear visco-elasticity

open access: yesLe Matematiche, 2007
Dedicated to the memory of Gaetano FicheraIn this paper we show that several free energies can be related to a material with fading memory with different domains of definition and topologies.

Limit Condition for Anisotropic Materials with Asymmetric Elastic Range

open access: yesEngineering Transactions, 2014
In the paper a new proposition of an energy-based hypothesis of material effort is intro- duced. It is based on the concept of influence functions introduced by Burzyński [3] and on the concept of decomposition of elastic energy density introduced by ...

A Workflow to Accelerate Microstructure‐Sensitive Fatigue Life Predictions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces a workflow to accelerate predictions of microstructure‐sensitive fatigue life. Results from frameworks with varying levels of simplification are benchmarked against published reference results. The analysis reveals a trade‐off between accuracy and model complexity, offering researchers a practical guide for selecting the optimal ...

A Lagrangian meshfree method applied to linear and nonlinear elasticity. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2017
The repeated replacement method (RRM) is a Lagrangian meshfree method which we have previously applied to the Euler equations for compressible fluid flow.

Interactions between Molten High‐Silicon Electrical Steels and Carbon‐Bonded MgO Refractories Based on Recyclates

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study examines how several molten high‐silicon electrical steels interact with both conventional and recycled MgO–C refractories. For this, various immersion experiments are conducted. In addition to infiltration, a number of mechanisms are identified and explained that control the corrosion of the refractory material.

Elinvar Materials: Recent Progress and Challenges

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Elinvar materials, exhibiting temperature‐invariant elastic modulus, are critical for precision instruments and emerging technologies. This article reviews recent progress in the field, with a focus on the anomalous thermoelastic behavior observed in key material systems.

Elastically induced phase-shift and birefringence in optical fibers [version 1; peer review: 1 approved, 2 approved with reservations]

open access: yesOpen Research Europe
Background Light propagation in optical fibers is known to be sensitive to ambient conditions such as changes in temperature and pressure. Building on a model for elastic deformations of optical fiber spools derived in previous work, the induced effects ...

Dynamics Almost Ideal: Demand System Application of Kalman Filter [PDF]

open access: yesStatistika: Statistics and Economy Journal, 2021
The demand elasticity for a product is the basis of its price determination. The ratio in which a product demand will fall with the rise in its price and, vice versa, can be known as demand elasticity. With increasing population and increasing demand for

Advancing Research on Biomaterials and Biological Materials with Scanning Electron Microscopy under Environmental and Low Vacuum Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Herein, environmental scanning electron microscopy (ESEM) is discussed as a powerful extension of conventional SEM for life sciences. By combining high‐resolution imaging with variable pressure and humidity, ESEM allows the analysis of untreated biological materials, supports in situ monitoring of hydration‐driven changes, and advances the functional ...

Shape derivative of an energy error functional for voids detection from sub-Cauchy data

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2016
We study a new framework for a geometric inverse problem in linear elasticity. This problem concerns the recovery of cavities from the knowledge of partially overdetermined boundary data.
