Linear oscillatory electric motor/generators: an overview

2021 13th International Symposium on Linear Drives for Industry Applications (LDIA), 2021
Linear oscillatory motion is present in many industrial processes/devices such as: free-piston air compressors, Stirling engines, wave-energy generators, microphones and loudspeakers, ICE valve actuators, etc. Direct drives for such applications based on linear oscillatory 1(3) phase motor/generator (LOM/G) have been developed now for decades to ...

Linear electric actuators and generators

Choice Reviews Online, 1997
Linear electric actuators (LEAs) and linear electric generators (LEGs) are widely used electromagnetic devices. This book deals with LEAs that convert electric energy into controlled mechanical motion of limited travel and LEGs that transform mechanical energy into electric energy.

Electrical characteristics of a linear, nonequilibrium, MHD generator.

AIAA Journal, 1968
The purpose of this experimental study was to determine the electrical performance of a linear, segmented electrode, MHD generator. Various noble gases were shock-heated to plasma conditions that allowed MHD generator operation with Hall parameters ω e τ e ranging from 1 to 20 and ratios of electron to static gas temperatures of 1 to 2.5. For T e /T g >

Electrically small linear antennas generated with a genetic algorithm

2008 1st International Conference on Information Technology, 2008
In this article we report on the use of a genetic algorithm (GA) in the design of electrically small linear antennas, taking into consideration the lowest VSWR and the best antenna gain. For the antenna configuration, we employ a multisegment wire structure. Our antenna structures resemble a monopole over the perfectly conducting ground plane.

Fault diagnosis of linear electric generators for thermoacoustic machines

2009 IEEE International Symposium on Diagnostics for Electric Machines, Power Electronics and Drives, 2009
Energy generation and its optimal use are key issues nowadays. In this framework the use of cogeneration (CHP) or trigeneration (CHCP) is an attractive solution towards higher system efficiency. Traditional thermal machines are used as a prime mover in a CHP/CHCP plant. Recently novel technologies were investigated for prime mover and cooler.
