Heat Transfer Coefficient and Film Cooling Effectiveness on the Partial Cavity Tip of a Gas Turbine Blade

Journal of turbomachinery, 2018
Leakage flow between the rotating turbine blade tip and the fixed casing causes high heat loads and thermal stress on the tip and near the tip region. For this study, new squealer tips called partial cavity tips, which combine the advantages of plane and

An Experimental Investigation of Adiabatic Film Cooling Effectiveness and Heat Transfer Coefficient on a Transonic Squealer Tip

Journal of turbomachinery, 2018
The effect of film cooling on a transonic squealer tip has been examined in a high speed linear cascade, which operates at engine-realistic Mach and Reynolds numbers.

Thermal performance of fully wet longitudinal porous fin with temperature-dependent thermal conductivity, surface emissivity and heat transfer coefficient

, 2019
The purpose of this paper is to study the thermal behaviour of a fully wet porous fin of longitudinal profile. The significance of radiative and convective heat transfer has been scrutinised along with the simultaneous variation of surface emissivity ...

Choice of Efficient Linear Scale and Generalized Description of Internal Heat Transfer Coefficient in Porous Structures

Journal of Engineering Thermophysics, 2018
The expedience of using the ratio of inertial β and viscous α hydraulic coefficients of a fluid flow in porous structures as the characteristic linear scale, when generalizing the experimental data on internal heat transfer in porous media, is shown.

Study of Heat and Mass Transfer of an Unsteady Magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) Nanofluid Flow Past a Vertical Porous Plate in the Presence of Chemical Reaction, Radiation and Soret Effects

Journal of Nanofluids, 2023
This paper investigates the heat and mass transfer of an unsteady, MHD incompressible water-based nanofluid (Cu and TiO2) flow over a stretching sheet in a transverse magnetic field with thermal radiation Soret effects.

Finite element analysis of temperature field with phase transformation and non-linear surface heat-transfer coefficient during quenching

Applied Mathematics and Mechanics, 1998
The calculation of temperature field has a great influence upon the analysis of the thermal stresses and strains during quenching, and also upon the residual stresses and microstructure of the workpiece after quenching, too. In this paper, a 42CrMo steel cylinder was taken as an investigating example.

An Experimental Investigation of Full-Coverage Film Cooling Effectiveness and Heat Transfer Coefficient of a Turbine Guide Vane in a Linear Transonic Cascade

Volume 5C: Heat Transfer, 2016
This paper experimentally investigates the film cooling performance of an enlarged turbine guide vane with full-coverage cylindrical hole film cooling in short duration transonic wind tunnel which can model realistic engine aerodynamic conditions and adjust inlet Reynolds number and isentropic exit Mach number independently.

The application of rational approximation in the calculation of a temperature field with a non-linear surface heat-transfer coefficient during quenching for 42CrMo steel cylinder

Metals and Materials, 1999
The calculation of a temperature field has a great influence upon the analysis of thermal stresses and stains during quenching. In this paper, a 42CrMo steel cylinder was used an example for investigation. From the TTT diagram of the 42CrMo steel, the CCT diagram was simulated by mathematical transformation, and the volume fraction of phase ...

Accurate prediction of friction factor and heat transfer coefficients of mixed convection in circular tubes: a simple linear algebraic model

International Communications in Heat and Mass Transfer, 2003
This investigation proposes a novel linear algebraic model (LAM) for deriving simple and accurate empirical formulas solved numerically for a complex convective flow system. A classical mixing convection problem in a uniformly heated horizontal circular tube is selected to demonstrate the validity of the linear algebraic model.
