Linear slot machines

Abstract We introduce tensors in Chapter 4, describing them as ‘linear slot machines’ into which you insert a number of vectors and their dual objects which are called 1-forms; the slot machine then spits out a number. Vectors and 1-forms are themselves both tensors, as is the energy-momentum tensor which we also introduce.

Trends in Superconducting Linear Electric Machines

2019 12th International Symposium on Linear Drives for Industry Applications (LDIA), 2019
Superconductivity is a state of matter that allows a constant flow of electrical current with little to no dissipation, provided that the working temperature T, applied magnetic field B, and current I are below a critical surface in a (T, B, I) space.

Linear Support Vector Machines

2016
Support vector machine (SVM) is the most popular classifier based on a linear discriminant function. It is ideally suited for binary classification. It has been studied extensively in several pattern recognition applications and in data mining. It has become a baseline standard for classification because of excellent software packages that have been ...

Linear scale calibration machine

2011 IEEE 9th International Symposium on Applied Machine Intelligence and Informatics (SAMI), 2011
A Zeiss length measuring machine was retrofitted for the calibration of linear scales, with a pitch distance in the order of a few micrometers. High resolution optics, equipped with a CCD camera with a built in computer was added, for capturing the line sizes and distances.

Fault tolerant linear state machines

2014 15th Latin American Test Workshop - LATW, 2014
In this paper, a new method for the design of fault-tolerant linear state machines with initial state 0 and one-dimensional input and one-dimensional output is proposed. It is shown that the LFSR-implementation of the transfer function of a linear automaton can be utilized to correct transient errors in the memory elements.

Synthesis of linear sequential machines†

International Journal of Systems Science, 1978
The synthesis problem for linear sequential machines which are defined over Boolean rings is considered. A theory is developed for realizing one sequential machine utilizing another lower-order one in combination with delay elements and Boolean adders.

Identification and Minimization of Linear Machines

IEEE Transactions on Electronic Computers, 1965
This paper is a study of linear machines and their submachines. Methods are presented for finding the reduced form of a given linear machine with or without fixed initial state. A technique is suggested for detecting whether a machine is linear or can be embedded as a submachine in a linear machine. In the latter case a state assignment is produced for

A Linear Decomposition for Sequential Machines

IEEE Transactions on Computers, 1970
This paper considers the loop-free decomposition of nonautonomous, synchronous, deterministic, nonlinear sequential machines into linear and nonlinear component machines. Two methods are derived which generate the desired decomposition and determine the state code assignment consistent with the linear realization of a component machine.
