A Frame Bundle Generalization of Multisymplectic Momentum Mappings

open access: yes, 2001
This paper presents generalized momentum mappings for covariant Hamiltonian field theories. The new momentum mappings arise from a generalization of symplectic geometry to $L_VY$, the bundle of vertically adapted linear frames over the bundle of field ...

Chirality and Organization of Adsorbates Modify Surface Phonon Dynamics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Chirality and molecular organization are shown to influence surface phonon dynamics in gold films. Time‐resolved Joule heating measurements reveal that ordered homochiral monolayers increase the Debye temperature and disordered layers reduce it, while ordered racemic controls have no effect.

Is orbital angular momentum always conserved in spontaneous parametric down-conversion?

open access: yes, 2007
In the non-linear optical process of type-II spontaneous parametric down-conversion, we present on an experiment showing that the two-photon detection amplitude of the down-converted beams does not generally reproduce the transverse profile of the pump ...

Microengineered Gradient Hydrogels for Mechanobiology

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Gradient hydrogels are used to mimic the mechanical heterogeneity in native tissues, offering powerful in vitro platforms to study cell‐material interactions in diverse pathophysiological contexts. Here, we present a comprehensive review of the design and experimental considerations for stiffness gradient hydrogels, discussing exemplary achievements ...

Neutron Stars in Teleparallel Gravity

open access: yes, 2013
In this paper we deal with neutron stars, which are described by a perfect fluid model, in the context of the teleparallel equivalent of general relativity.

Microscopic Insights into Magnetic Warping and Time‐Reversal Symmetry Breaking in Topological Surface States of Rare‐Earth‐Doped Bi2Te3

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Magnetic doping of the topological insulator Bi2Te3 with erbium adatoms induces out‐of‐plane magnetism and breaks time‐reversal symmetry, opening a Dirac gap and driving a Fermi surface transition from hexagonal to star‐of‐David geometry. Microscopy, spectroscopy, and magnetic dichroism reveal atomically controlled magnetic interactions that tailor the

Waves on mazes

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
One way to describe the entropy of black holes comes from partitioning momentum charge across fractionated intersecting brane systems. Here we construct 1 8 $$ \frac{1}{8} $$ -BPS solutions by adding momentum to a maze of M2-brane strips stretched ...

A Quasigroup Approach for Conservation Laws in Asymptotically Flat Spacetimes

open access: yesUniverse
In the framework of the quasigroup approach to conservation laws in general relativity, we show how the infinite-parametric Newman–Unti group of asymptotic symmetries can be reduced to the Poincaré quasigroup. We compute Noether’s charges associated with
