Locking Orbital Angular Momentum with Linear Momentum of Light

Physical Review Letters
Correlation between the propagation direction of light and spin can be induced via the spin-orbit interaction and has been proven to be the workhorse in the emerging field of chiral quantum optics and in the spin-related Hall effects of light. Photonic orbital angular momentum (OAM) provides a high-dimensional degree of freedom in classical and quantum

Linear momentum in ferromagnets

Journal of Physics C: Solid State Physics, 1987
The paradox of linear momentum in ferromagnetics is explained in terms of the exchange of the momentum between coherent and incoherent degrees of freedom in condensed matter.

Linear momentum, angular momentum and energy in the linear collision between two balls

European Journal of Physics, 2017
In an experiment of the basic physics laboratory, kinematical motion processes were analysed. The motion was recorded with a standard video camera having frame rates from 30 to 240 fps; the videos were processed using video analysis software. Video detection was used to analyse the symmetric one-dimensional collision between two balls.

Balances of Linear and Angular Momentum

2020
Several practical problems of Fluid Dynamics can be solved with the use of the linear momentum balance equation, mostly in integral form. We select an appropriate control volume and evaluate all the forces acting on it, separating the surface forces (acting on the outer surface of the control volume), and the volume forces (acting on the fluid ...

Relativistic linear potential in momentum space

Physical Review D, 1993
A manifestly covariant definition of the linear potential is applied to a general class of relativistic theories. It is shown that in momentum space this potential exists in a distributional sense, leading to well-defined equations. Therefore no extra parameters are needed to avoid singularities.

Linear and Angular Momentum

2017
The two important conservation laws are conservation of energy and conservation of momentum. From the concept of linear momentum and forces, impacts can be considered. ‘Newton’s Cradle’ and the ‘Galilean Cannon’ are each illustrated with a simple JavaScript simulation. But we must also deal with angular momentum and couples.

Linear and Angular Momentums

2015
In this chapter linear and angular momentums for bodies during mass variation are determined. Separation of a body from an initial one causes its jump-like mass variation. Besides, the body changes its moment of inertia, too. If mass is added to an initial body, its mass jump-like increases.
