Classical gravitational observables from the Eikonal operator

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 2023
We propose two possible eikonal operators encoding the effects of classical radiation as coherent states of gravitons and show how to compute from them different classical observables.

Angular momentum on the lattice: The case of nonzero linear momentum [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review D, 2006
The irreducible representations (IRs) of the double cover of the Euclidean group with parity in three dimensions are subduced to the corresponding cubic space group. The reduction of these representations gives the mapping of continuum angular momentum states to the lattice in the case of non-zero linear momentum.

Energy, linear momentum, and angular momentum exchange between an electromagnetic wave-packet and a small particle

open access: yes, 2018
Invoking Maxwell's classical electrodynamics in conjunction with expressions for the electromagnetic (EM) energy, momentum, force, and torque, we use a few simple examples to demonstrate the nature of linear and angular momentum exchange between a wave ...

Homes’ law in holographic superconductor with linear-T resistivity

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2022
Homes’ law, ρ s = Cσ DC T c , is a universal relation of superconductors between the superfluid density ρ s at zero temperature, the critical temperature T c and the electric DC conductivity σ DC at T c .

Electromagnetic energy, momentum, and angular momentum in an inhomogeneous linear dielectric [PDF]

open access: yesOptics Communications, 2012
In a previous work, Optics Communications 284 (2011) 2460--2465, we considered a dielectric medium with an anti-reflection coating and a spatially uniform index of refraction illuminated at normal incidence by a quasimonochromatic field. Using the continuity equations for the electromagnetic energy density and the Gordon momentum density, we ...

Dielectric multi-momentum meta-transformer in the visible

open access: yesNature Communications, 2019
Here, the authors demonstrate a multi-momentum transformation metasurface. The orbital angular momentum meta-transformer reconstructs different vortex beams into on-axis distinct patterns, and the linear momentum meta-transformer converts red, green and ...

Developing momentum in vanishing index photonics

open access: yesLight: Science & Applications, 2022
Refractive index invariably describes the speed at which light passes through materials, and subsequently its perceived momentum. But what happens to these quantities as the index becomes zero? A new work explores this question, highlighting how momentum

Examples of identities and inequalities for the nonlinear term in the Navier–Stokes equation

open access: yesExamples and Counterexamples, 2023
In this paper, several examples of novel equations and inequalities for various forms of the non-linear term in the Navier–Stokes equations (NSE) are provided. The NSE are formulated from the conservation of linear momentum and mass conservation. However,

Compressibility probed by linear momentum transfer [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review C, 1996
The linear momentum transfer occurring in central heavy ion collisions is studied within the Landau Vlasov model. A sensitivity to the equation of state is found for this observable. Assuming the free nucleon-nucleon cross section, a soft compressibility modulus (around 210 MeV) is required to reproduce the large amount of data available for linear ...

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.
