Magnetostrictive linear motor development
IEEE Transactions on Magnetics, 1998We are currently designing a high force linear motor that utilizes the inchworm principle coupled with multi-phase actuation. The efficient design of a 17 kN force linear motor that utilizes the magnetostrictive material Terfenol-D requires a transient electromechanical model to determine the operating parameters.

In the early years of the 20th century, when rotating electrical machines had become established and made to perform satisfactorily, it was realised that these machines could be made in a different form which would use or produce motion in a straight line, instead of the normal rotary motion.

A New Rapid-Precision Position Measurement Method for a Linear Motor Mover Based on a 1-D EPCA
IEEE transactions on industrial electronics (1982. Print), 2018This paper is dedicated to studying a new position measurement method of a linear motor mover based on machine vision, which provides a novel idea for the detection of mover position.

This paper describes a methodology to design slotless linear motors through use of a finite element database. Simple lumped parameter models are found inadequate to describe the general flux path of the motor. The database is used in an iterative design program to investigate a host of potential designs.

Linear stepping ultrasonic motor
Journal of Electroceramics, 2007A linear stepping ultrasonic motor, based on vibrators alternative driving and slider grooves positioning, is proposed in this paper. The step-by-step movements can be obtained by exciting two vibrators of stator by turns. The motor is capable of bi-direction stepping movements without accumulative position errors driven by an open-loop control circuit,
