Osculating Spaces of Varieties and Linear Network Codes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We present a general theory to obtain good linear network codes utilizing the osculating nature of algebraic varieties. In particular, we obtain from the osculating spaces of Veronese varieties explicit families of equidimensional vector spaces, in which any pair of distinct vector spaces intersects in the same dimension.

Expression and DNA methylation of 20S proteasome subunits as prognostic and resistance markers in cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Comprehensive analysis of genomic mutations, gene expression, DNA methylation, and pathway analysis of TCGA data was carried out to define cancer types in which proteasome subunits expression is associated with worse survival. Albeit the effect of specific proteasome subunits on cellular function, the main role of the proteasome is better evaluated ...

On Construction of Variable-Rate and Static Linear Network Codes

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2018
On a (single-source) multicast network with possible edge failures, variable-rate and static linear network coding (LNC) is a special class of scalar LNC schemes under which the source can generate a message of an arbitrary rate so that every eligible ...

Linear Fractional Network Coding and Representable Discrete Polymatroids

open access: yes, 2013
A linear Fractional Network Coding (FNC) solution over $\mathbb{F}_q$ is a linear network coding solution over $\mathbb{F}_q$ in which the message dimensions need not necessarily be the same and need not be the same as the edge vector dimension.

Detecting homologous recombination deficiency for breast cancer through integrative analysis of genomic data

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study develops a semi‐supervised classifier integrating multi‐genomic data (1404 training/5893 validation samples) to improve homologous recombination deficiency (HRD) detection in breast cancer. Our method demonstrates prognostic value and predicts chemotherapy/PARP inhibitor sensitivity in HRD+ tumours.

Decoding and File Transfer Delay Balancing in Network Coding Broadcast

open access: yes, 2016
Network Coding is a packet encoding technique which has recently been shown to improve network performance (by reducing delays and increasing throughput) in broadcast and multicast communications.

Data‐driven discovery of gene expression markers distinguishing pediatric acute lymphoblastic leukemia subtypes

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study investigates gene expression differences between two major pediatric acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) subtypes, B‐cell precursor ALL, and T‐cell ALL, using a data‐driven approach consisting of biostatistics and machine learning methods. Following analysis of a discovery dataset, we find a set of 14 expression markers differentiating the ...

ComboCoding: Combined intra-/inter-flow network coding for TCP over disruptive MANETs

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Research, 2011
TCP over wireless networks is challenging due to random losses and ACK interference. Although network coding schemes have been proposed to improve TCP robustness against extreme random losses, a critical problem still remains of DATA–ACK interference. To

Insufficiency of Linear Coding in Network Information Flow [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Information Theory, 2005
It is known that every solvable multicast network has a scalar linear solution over a sufficiently large finite-field alphabet. It is also known that this result does not generalize to arbitrary networks. There are several examples in the literature of solvable networks with no scalar linear solution over any finite field.
