The orbit of a vector v under a bounded linear operator on a Hilbert space is \(\{A^ nv:\quad n=0,1,2,...\}.\) What sets can arise as orbits of operators on separable Hilbert space? We prove that every countable linearly independent set is the orbit of a vector under a bounded linear operator.

The dynamics of linear operators is a young and rapidly evolving branch of functional analysis. In this book, which focuses on hypercyclicity and supercyclicity, the authors assemble the wide body of theory that has received much attention over the last fifteen years and present it for the first time in book form.

Soit L n (h;x)=Σ ∞k=0 a nk g n,k (x)h(k/n). On cherche g n,k (x) unique de facon que L n soit un operateur positif lineaire approchant h dans un certain ...

The properties and use of stochastic operators as a unifying method of dealing with some difficult problems are investigated to gain further insight into the physical interpretation of the theory in some general physical processes. Derivation and interpretation of a stochastic Green's function is outlined, as is treatment of various processes ...

Linear Spaces and Linear Operators
1986The present chapter is concerned with the basic setting for a great deal of modern mathematical analysis and applied mathematics: the linear or vector space. In a linear space, addition, subtraction, magnification and contraction of elements are all possible, and sometimes even multiplication between elements is possible.

Linear Operators and Linear Systems
2004Linear systems can be regarded as a causal shift-invariant operator on a Hilbert space of signals, and by doing so this 2004 book presents an introduction to the common ground between operator theory and linear systems theory. The book therefore includes material on pure mathematical topics such as Hardy spaces, closed operators, the gap metric ...
