Linear polarization sensitivity
OSA Annual Meeting, 1993Remote sensing instruments often contain optical components, such as fold mirrors, diffraction gratings, and detectors, whose efficiency depends on the incident polarization state.

Linear polarization measurements
Nuclear Instruments and Methods, 1968Abstract The use of the Compton polarimeter is discussed for the measurement of linear polarizations of gamma rays from aligned nuclear excited states. A set of formulas is given for calculating the polarization-correlation of any member of a multiple gamma-ray cascade and for calculating the Compton scattering asymmetry expected from a polarization ...

Linear optics of polarization sheets
Applied Physics B Photophysics and Laser Chemistry, 1987We develop a theory in which thin films or monolayers of strongly polarizable molecules are described as linear polarization sheets. We show that this concept in combination with the transfer matrix method allows a transparent derivation of the transmission and reflection properties of a composite interface.

Four-channel volume holographic recording with linear polarization holography.
Optics Letters, 2019We report on four-channel volume holographic recording with linear polarization-sensitive holography. This technique is based on the null reconstruction effect (NRE) of linear polarization-sensitive holography, which means the diffraction efficiency ...

Self Linear Polarization Resistance
CORROSION 2002, 2002Abstract A novel technique for obtaining a polarization resistance from electrochemical noise data is described. Based on parallel measurements of polarization resistance using the LPR technique on stainless steel (430), Self Linear Polarization Resistance (SLPR) provides an accurate means of obtaining polarization resistance with ...

Optical element converting linear polarization into circular-tangential polarization
Applied Optics, 1995A new optical element capable of converting linear polarization into circular-tangential polarization (i.e., the electric vector is along the tangential direction to a circle) is proposed and demonstrated. The conversion characteristics of the fabricated element are evaluated, and the magnitude of aberration produced by the element is shown to be ...

Reconfigurable Linear-to-Linear Polarization Conversion Metasurface Based on PIN Diodes
IEEE Antennas and Wireless Propagation Letters, 2018A reconfigurable linear-to-linear polarization conversion metasurface (Re-PCM) based on positive-intrinsic-negative (PIN) diodes is proposed, which can be reconfigured between the conversion mode and the reflection mode by switching the loaded PIN diodes.

A schematic of the AGN and the main source of linear polarization in the optical and UV range, the scattering, both from the continuum and from the broad lines, is shown. Some examples of potential uses of linear polarimetry are presented, such as the observation of broad lines in type 2 AGNs, the measurement and structure of the BLR, a new method to ...

Bragg fiber design for linear polarization
Optics Letters, 2004A new design is presented for Bragg fibers that allows low-loss propagation for linearly polarized light. Predictions based on a simple ray model show that approximately doubling the thickness of the first wall layer results in low losses at TM-like boundaries while keeping TE-like boundary losses manageable.

A wideband reflective polarization converter based on metasurface is proposed in this letter. This converter can transform a linearly polarized (LP) incident electromagnetic (EM) wave into its orthogonal LP reflection wave in a lower band, and a circularly polarized (CP) reflection wave in a higher band.
