Conversion from linear to circular polarization in FPGA

open access: yes, 2010
Context: Radio astronomical receivers are now expanding their frequency range to cover large (octave) fractional bandwidths for sensitivity and spectral flexibility, which makes the design of good analogue circular polarizers challenging.

Simple design of efficient broadband multifunctional polarization converter for X-band applications

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2021
A simple design of a broadband multifunctional polarization converter using an anisotropic metasurface for X-band application is proposed. The proposed polarization converter consists of a periodic array of the two-corner-cut square patch resonators ...

Gamma-ray linear polarization distribution

open access: yesAtomic Data and Nuclear Data Tables, 1987
The formalism for describing the linear polarization of gamma radiation from oriented nuclei is reviewed. Coefficients A'/sub lambda//sub 2/ are introduced which give the polarization-sensitive terms in the directional distribution of radiation the same form as the polarization-insensitive terms.

Compact and Low-Profile Linear-/Circular-Polarization Dielectric Resonator Antennas With Extended Bandwidths

open access: yesIEEE Open Journal of Antennas and Propagation, 2022
The dielectric resonator antenna (DRA) with wide bandwidth, compact size and low profile is considered as an attractive candidate for 5G wireless communications. However, most of the reported DRAs either have bulky volumes or have limited bandwidths.

Coherent optical control of polarization with a critical metasurface

open access: yes, 2015
We describe the mechanism by which a metamaterial surface can act as an ideal phase-controlled rotatable linear polarizer. With equal-power linearly polarized beams incident on each side of the surface, varying the relative phase rotates the polarization

Design of a transmissive dual-frequency polarization rotator for linearly polarized electromagnetic wave

open access: yesEPJ Applied Metamaterials
This paper presents the design of a transmission-type dual-frequency polarization rotator for linearly polarized electromagnetic wave. The rotator facilitates polarization conversion for incident waves at any azimuth angle ϕ at two specific frequency ...

Reconfigurable Antennas Based on Pure Water

open access: yesIEEE Open Journal of Antennas and Propagation, 2021
This paper is concerned with the design of reconfigurable antennas based on pure water. Being a transparent, flexible, and readily available liquid, pure water can form a cylindrical stream that can be used to guide a leaky electromagnetic wave.

Full-Stokes polarimetry with circularly polarized feeds - Sources with stable linear and circular polarization in the GHz regime [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
We present a pipeline that allows recovering reliable information for all four Stokes parameters with high accuracy. Its novelty relies on the treatment of the instrumental effects already prior to the computation of the Stokes parameters contrary to ...

Linear polarization in gamma-ray burst prompt emission [PDF]

open access: yesMonthly notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, 2018
Despite being hard to measure, GRB prompt γ-ray emission polarization is a valuable probe of the dominant emission mechanism and the GRB outflow’s composition and angular structure.

Conceptual Design of a Semi-Dual Polarized Monopulse Antenna by Computer Simulation

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2023
Presented in this paper is a conceptual design by computer simulation of a monopulse reflector antenna with dual-circularly polarized sum patterns and linearly polarized azimuth and elevation difference patterns, which can be called a semi-dual polarized
