Modelling of Activated Sludge Wastewater Treatment [PDF]

open access: yesKemija u Industriji, 2008
Activated sludge wastewater treatment is a highly complex physical, chemical and biological process, and variations in wastewater flow rate and its composition, combined with time-varying reactions in a mixed culture of microorganisms, make this process ...

Building a Multiple Linear Regression Model With LEGO Brick Data

open access: yesJournal of Statistics and Data Science Education, 2021
We present an innovative activity that uses data about LEGO sets to help students self-discover multiple linear regressions. Students are guided to predict the price of a LEGO set posted on Amazon.com (Amazon price) using LEGO characteristics such as the

Novel Genetic Risk Factor Identified for L‐Asparaginase‐Induced Pancreatitis in Pediatric Patients With Cancer

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background L‐asparaginase is a critical component in treatment protocols for pediatric acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Acute pancreatitis reactions can necessitate delays and, in some cases, discontinuation of L‐asparaginase, which compromises outcomes.

Mapping the evolution of mitochondrial complex I through structural variation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Respiratory complex I (CI) is crucial for bioenergetic metabolism in many prokaryotes and eukaryotes. It is composed of a conserved set of core subunits and additional accessory subunits that vary depending on the organism. Here, we categorize CI subunits from available structures to map the evolution of CI across eukaryotes. Respiratory complex I (CI)

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Connecting model-based and model-free approaches to linear least squares regression

open access: yes, 2020
In a regression setting with response vector $\mathbf{y} \in \mathbb{R}^n$ and given regressor vectors $\mathbf{x}_1,\ldots,\mathbf{x}_p \in \mathbb{R}^n$, a typical question is to what extent $\mathbf{y}$ is related to these regressor vectors ...

Comparitive Study Between Two Ways Least Squares and Adaptive Regression In Regression linear model [PDF]

open access: yesالمجلة العراقية للعلوم الاحصائية, 2007
In this research, we use the ( ) and ( ) two criterions to compare between the estimators of Adaptive Regression model and the estimators of Ordinary and General Least Squares. We found that, Adaptive Regression estimators are more accurate and efficient

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.
