On the relationship between nonlinear and linear differential systems

open access: yes上海师范大学学报. 自然科学版, 2015
In this article, we establish the relationship between the quadratic time-varying differential systems and the linear systems, giving the sufficient conditions for the quadratic systems to have the reflecting function in the form of fractional function ...

Influence of bond stress-slip relationship on bond strength prediction [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The study of the bond stress-slip relationship of FRP (fibre reinforced polymer) adhered to concrete has been a key point to understand the bond behaviour of externally bonded reinforcement (EBR) and near surface mounted (NSM) systems.

Application of Artificial Neural Networks in Predicting Abrasion Resistance of Solution Polymerized Styrene-Butadiene Rubber Based Composites

open access: yes, 2014
Abrasion resistance of solution polymerized styrene-butadiene rubber (SSBR) based composites is a typical and crucial property in practical applications.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Leverage and productivity growth in emerging economies: Is there a threshold effect? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
While credit is essential for investment, innovation and economic growth, there are risks to unfettered credit booms. The present paper provides an innovative micro-economic approach to identify the threshold leverage beyond which corporate indebtedness ...

Indications of a sub-linear and non-universal Kennicutt-Schmidt relationship

open access: yes, 2013
We estimate the parameters of the Kennicutt-Schmidt (KS) relationship, linking the star formation rate (Sigma_SFR) to the molecular gas surface density (Sigma_mol), in the STING sample of nearby disk galaxies using a hierarchical Bayesian method.

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

The Empirical Investigation of Relationship between Return, Volume and Volatility Dynamics in Indian Stock Market [PDF]

open access: yesEurasian Journal of Business and Economics, 2009
This paper examines the empirical relationship between return, volume and volatility dynamics of stock market by using daily data of the Sensitive Index (SENSEX) during the period from October 1996 to March 2006. The empirical analysis provides evidence

Untangling the nexus of stock price and trading volume: evidence from the Chinese stock market [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper explores the linear and non-linear causal relationship between stock price and trading volume in China. The empirical results substantiate that there is a long-run level equilibrium relationship between the stock price and trading volume in ...

Interpreting the sub-linear Kennicutt-Schmidt relationship: The case for diffuse molecular gas

open access: yes, 2014
Recent statistical analysis of two extragalactic observational surveys strongly indicate a sublinear Kennicutt-Schmidt (KS) relationship between the star formation rate (Sigsfr) and molecular gas surface density (Sigmol).
