Stabilization of Linear Systems

SIAM Journal on Control, 1972
Summary: This paper considers a finite-dimensional linear time-varying system and is concerned with the question: What is the relation between controllability properties of the system and various degrees of stability of the closed loop system resulting from linear feedback of the state variable? The main results are as follows: For any initial time to,

A Characterization of Stability in Linear Programming

Operations Research, 1977
We prove that a necessary and sufficient condition for the primal and dual solution sets of a solvable, finite-dimensional linear programming problem to be stable under small but arbitrary perturbations in the data of the problem is that both of these sets be bounded.

Uniform Stability and Stabilization of Linear Thermoelastic Systems

Journal of Dynamical and Control Systems, 2000
The object of the paper is to study mathematical models of elastic, heat conductive media. For such linear thermoelastic systems, uniform stability and stabilization methods are investigated. An explicit stabilizing feedback for such system is developed and proposed. The exponential stability for this stabilizer is proved using Lyapunov functions.

Interval Stability and Stabilization of Linear Stochastic Systems

IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control, 2009
This technical note applies the spectrum technique to deal with the interval stability and stabilization of linear stochastic time-invariant systems. First, the notion of (-beta,-alpha) -stability of stochastic systems is defined and some relationships among the (-beta,-alpha) -stability, the decay rate of system state response, and the second-order ...

The stability of the linear systems with delays

International Journal of Systems Science, 2000
In this paper, we study the linear autonomous system of differential difference equations with delays. Some simple and practical sufficient conditions of the hyperbolic cone and the asymptotic stable cone are established.

Linear Nonisothermal Stability Studies

Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 1968
A method for evaluation and utilization of data from linear nonisothermal kinetics has been developed. The studies have yielded energy of activation, reaction rate, and stability predictions from a single experiment. The relatively short length of time needed to complete a study and the comparatively few analytical experiments required present a ...

On the linear stability of Stokes layers

Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society A: Mathematical, Physical and Engineering Sciences, 2008
Oscillatory flows occur naturally, with applications ranging across many disciplines from engineering to physiology. Transition to turbulence in such flows is a topic of practical interest and this article discusses some recent work that has furthered our understanding of the stability of a class of time-periodic fluid motions. Our study starts with an

Linear Stability of Jet Flows

Journal of Applied Mechanics, 1977
A theoretical investigation into the linear, spatial stability of plane laminar jets is presented. The three cases studied are: 1. Inviscid stability of Sato’s velocity profile. 2. Viscous stability of the Bickley’s jet using parallel-flow stability theory. 3.
