Structure of Liquid Linear Alcohols

The Journal of Physical Chemistry B, 2010
The properties of linear alcohols in the liquid phase are studied by molecular dynamics simulations. We analyze the effects of the use of bond length constraints on the simulation density, self-diffusion constant, and hydrogen-bonding characteristics of the alcohol series. We find that the densities are well-reproduced in each of the cases but that the

Electronic Structure of Linear Polyacenes

Current Organic Chemistry, 2018
Linear polyacene hydrocarbons C4n+2H2n+2 consisting in the linear condensation of n aromatic hexagonal rings, have been used in prototypical studies of electronic delocalization, relevant for conduction effects. The results of density functional theory (DFT) calculations were interpreted by analytical simplified models, such as Hückel simple orbital ...

Linear Structure

2019
Abstract Many aspects of linear algebra can be reformulated as categorical structures. This chapter examines abstractions of the base field, zero-dimensional spaces, addition of linear operators, direct sums, matrices, inner products and adjoints. These features are essential for modelling features of quantum theory such as superposition,

Linear structure in information retrieval

Proceedings of the 11th annual international ACM SIGIR conference on Research and development in information retrieval - SIGIR '88, 1988
Based on the concept of user preference, we investigate the linear structure in information retrieval. We also discuss a practical procedure to determine the linear decision function and present an analysis of term weighting. Our experimental results seem to demonstrate that our model provides a useful framework for the design of an adaptive system.

On Linear Separability of Sequences and Structures

2002
Linear separability of sequences and structured data is studied. On the basis of a theoretical model, necessary and sufficient conditions for nonlinear separability are derived by a well known result for vectors. Examples of sufficient conditions for linear separability of both sequences and structured data are given.

A study on the structure of linear recursion

IEEE Transactions on Knowledge and Data Engineering, 1994
We study a general class of single linear recursions and the properties of their expansions by analyzing the structures of the recursions. We show that the expansions of a linear recursion of this class are very regular in that the variable connections are heavily shared and change periodically with respect to the expansions.

On the Structure of Linear Cellular Automata

2001
We introduce a new class of cellular automata, much richer than the classical one. These one dimensional cellular automata, called here linear, are presented together with their properties in the first section of the paper. We characterize linear functions which are global transition functions for certain bounded linear cellular automata. Finally, some

Linear Genomes for Structured Programs

2018
In most genetic programming systems, candidate solution programs themselves serve as genome upon which variation operators act. However, because of the hierarchical structure of computer programs and the syntactic constraints that they must obey, it is difficult to implement variation operators that affect different parts of programs with uniform ...
