All‐Amyloid Functional Coacervates

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces an all‐amyloid interfacial complex coacervate technique that employs charge‐mediated or functionalization‐assisted complexation of oppositely charged food protein‐derived amyloid nanofibrils to engineer functional soft constructs across multiple length scales.

ALTERNATIVE METHOD FOR ON SITE EVALUATION OF THERMAL TRANSMITTANCE [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Thermal transmittance or U-value is an indicator of the building envelope thermal properties and a key parameter for evaluation of heat losses through the building elements due to heat transmission.

Toward Pore‐Engineered 3D‐Printed Materials for Sorption Water Harvesting, Interfacial Evaporation, and Radiative Cooling

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Water harvesting, radiative cooling, and interfacial solar evaporation are fundamentally governed by coupled heat, mass, and light transport processes. These processes are mediated by pore architecture, including pore size, connectivity, and hierarchical organization.

Wavelength‐ and Helicity‐Reconfigurable Circularly Polarized Optical Diodes Enabled by Molecular Photoswitches

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
All‐optical, photoswitchable diode‐type device for tunable nonreciprocal (asymmetric) transmission of CPL across a broad spectrum of light is demonstrated using molecular motor (photoswitch)‐doped cholesteric liquid crystals (CLCs) sandwiched between polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and polydopamine (PDA)‐PVA composite layers.

Analysis of a non-calorimetric method for assessment of in-situ thermal transmittance and solar factor of glazed systems

open access: yes, 2018
The performance of glazing systems is usually assessed through the thermal transmittance and the solar factor, two metrics characterised either through calorimetric laboratory tests or calculations. In this paper, the analysis of the performance of a non-

A novel concept to measure envelope thermal transmittance and air infiltration using a combined simulation and experimental approach

open access: yes, 2017
This paper presents a novel method to determine building envelope thermal transmittance (known as U-values) and air infiltration rate by a combination of Energy modeling (DesignBuilder and EnergyPlus), regression models and genetic algorithm at quasi ...

Parity‐Dependent THz Harmonic Generation in Electrically Pumped Micro‐Lasers Exploiting Topological Insulator–Metamaterial Gratings

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Topological insulator–metamaterials integrated with electrically driven terahertz quantum cascade lasers enable parity‐dependent harmonic generation. Bulk‐dominated Bi2Se3 favors third‐harmonic emission at 9.96 THz, whereas topological‐surface‐state‐dominated Bi2Se3, Bi2Te3, and (Bi,Sb)2Te3 generate strong second harmonics near 6.5 THz.
