Trends in Superconducting Linear Electric Machines

2019 12th International Symposium on Linear Drives for Industry Applications (LDIA), 2019
Superconductivity is a state of matter that allows a constant flow of electrical current with little to no dissipation, provided that the working temperature T, applied magnetic field B, and current I are below a critical surface in a (T, B, I) space.

Linear Trend with Fractionally Integrated Errors

Journal of Time Series Analysis, 1998
We consider the estimation of linear trend for a time series in the presence of additive long‐memory noise with memory parameter d∈[0, 1.5). Although no parametric model is assumed for the noise, our assumptions include as special cases the random walk with drift as well as linear trend with stationary invertible autoregressive moving‐average errors ...

A generating algorithm for linear trend-free and nearly linear trend-free block designs

Communications in Statistics - Simulation and Computation, 1988
The theory and properties of trend-free (TF) and nearly trend-free (NTF) block designs are wel1 developed. Applications have been hampered because a methodology for design construction has not been available. This article begins with a short review of concepts and properties of TF and NTF block designs.

MODERN TRENDS IN QUASI-LINEAR SPECTRA STUDIES

Pure and Applied Chemistry, 1974
ABSTRACT The data of the theoretical and experimental investigations of the luminescence and absorption spectra of different organic compounds (aromatic hydrocarbons and their derivatives, phthalocyanines and porphyrins, polyenes, etc.) in frozen polycrystal solutions are summarized and systematized. The recent data prove that quasi-line spectra are

Partitioning linear trends in age-adjusted rates

Cancer Causes & Control, 2000
Surveillance of chronic diseases includes monitoring trends in age-adjusted rates in the general population. Statistics that are calculated to describe and compare trends include the annual percent change and the percent change for a specified time period.

Simple Regressions with Linear Time Trends

Journal of Time Series Analysis, 2000
Simple regressions of two trend stationary time series are considered. As the linear trend dominates the stochastic components the rates of convergence and the limiting distributions of ordinary least squares statistics are exactly the same as in the case of cointegrated regressions with drifts.

Estimating Linear Trends: Simple Linear Regression versus Epoch Differences

Journal of Climate, 2015
Abstract Two common approaches for estimating a linear trend are 1) simple linear regression and 2) the epoch difference with possibly unequal epoch lengths. The epoch difference estimator for epochs of length M is defined as the difference between the average value over the last M time steps and the average value over the first M time ...
