Linear images of linear groups

Revista Matemática Complutense, 2014
Let \(G\) be a subgroup of \(\text{GL}(n,F)\), where \(F\) is a field. Assume that \(N\) is a (Zariski) closed normal subgroup of \(G\). Then, it is well-known that the factor group \(G/N\) is isomorphic to a subgroup of \(\text{GL}(m,F)\) for some integer \(m\).

Linear dermatomyofibroma

Clinical and Experimental Dermatology, 1996
Dermatomyofibroma is a rare, plaque-like, cutaneous myofibroblastic proliferation that usually presents as a 1-2 cm, firm, dermal plaque, often with brown-red discoloration. We report an example of dermatomyofibroma presenting as a poorly defined, linear, indurated area, 8 cm in length, on the posterior aspect of the neck of a 20-year-old female.

Linear Endotheliitis

American Journal of Ophthalmology, 1994
We treated six eyes of five patients with linear endotheliitis. This entity appears clinically as a line of keratic precipitates on the corneal endothelium that progresses centrally and is accompanied by peripheral stromal and epithelial edema. All five patients had ocular pain, redness, and photophobia.

Linear Systems and Linearization

2010
Key to the analysis of nonlinear systems is determining the stability of the equilibria. The classical method of determining stability is to linearize the system about the equilibrium and to determine exponential rates of growth and decay for the associated linear system. The framework for carrying this out is taken up in this chapter.

Linear Optimisation (Linear Programming)

1990
An optimisation problem is one requiring the determination of the optimal (maximum or minimum) value of a given function, called the objective function, subject to a set of stated restrictions, or constraints, placed on the variables concerned.
