Linearized elasticity as Mosco limit of finite elasticity in the presence of cracks [PDF]
The small-deformation limit of finite elasticity is considered in presence of a given crack. The rescaled finite energies with the constraint of global injectivity are shown to Γ-converge to the linearized elastic energy with a local constraint of non ...

A reexamination of some puzzling results in linearized elasticity
In this paper, we analyse three commonly discussed `flaws' of linearized elasticity theory and attempt to resolve them. The first `flaw' concerns cylindrically orthotropic material models.

NULL LAGRANGIANS IN LINEAR ELASTICITY
Mathematical Models and Methods in Applied Sciences, 1995The concept of null Lagrangian is exploited in the context of linear elasticity. In particular, it is shown that the stored energy functional can always be split into a null Lagrangian and a remainder; the null Lagrangian vanishes if and only if the elasticity tensor obeys the Cauchy relations, and is therefore determined by only 15 independent moduli

A Density Result in Two-Dimensional Linearized Elasticity, and Applications
We show that in a two-dimensional bounded open set whose complement has a finite number of connected components, the vector fields uH 1 (Ωℝ2) are dense in the space of fields whose symmetrized gradient e(u) is in L 2 (Ωℝ4).

On Universal Coercivity in Linear Elasticity
SIAM Journal on Mathematical Analysis, 2010We consider a variational model for composition of finitely many strongly elliptic homogenous elastic materials in linear elasticity. We give conditions for universal coercivity for the variational integrals which are independent of particular compositions of materials involved.
