Spaser linewidth enhancement

open access: yes, 2012
The concept of spaser, as the coherent near-field generator, based on nanometric plasmonic resonators, has been successfully demonstrated in number of experiments. Here we have developed the theoretical framework for description of the basic properties of the spaser linewidth and, in particular, linewidth enhancement.

Theory of the Linewidth-Power Product of Photonic-Crystal Surface-Emitting Lasers

open access: yes
A general theory for the intrinsic (Lorentzian) linewidth of photonic–crystal surface–emitting lasers (PCSELs) is presented. The effect of spontaneous emission is modeled by a classical Langevin force entering the equation for the slowly varying waves ...

Narrow-Linewidth Microwave Generation Using a Self-Injected DBR Laser Diode

open access: yes, 2009
A novel technique for generating narrow-linewidth microwave or millimeter-wave signals is proposed. In this scheme, a delayed self-injected distributed Bragg reflector laser diode, which is tuned by a low-frequency square-wave voltage, is used to ...

Pump-induced stimulated superradiant Smith-Purcell radiation with ultra-narrow linewidth

open access: yeseLight
Lasers with the gain medium of gas, liquid, semiconductor, and solid could generate coherent light with rather narrow spectral linewidth, which play an important role in the fields of communication, measurement, sensing, and so on. Although free electron

1970 W 1030 nm Single-Mode All-Fiber Master Oscillator Power Amplifier with ~3.2 GHz Linewidth Based on Ultra-Low NA Active Fiber

open access: yesPhotonics
A high-power narrow-linewidth fiber laser with single-mode beam quality is experimentally demonstrated. By employing a cascaded phase modulation strategy, the stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) threshold of the laser is effectively increased from 973 ...

In situ measurement of spectral linewidth in wavelength-modulated signals for frequency-modulated continuous-wave LiDAR systems

open access: yesAIP Advances
This paper advances an in situ method to measure the spectral linewidth directly from the currently generated wavelength-modulated signals in frequency-modulated continuous-wave (FMCW) light detection and ranging (LiDAR) systems, diverging from ...

Surface phonon linewidth of Al

open access: yes, 1994
In this paper we present a numerical calculation of the Rayleigh wave phonon linewidth based on a cubic anharmonic expansion of the interatomic potential of the crystal.

Controlling the Guanidinium Cation Rotation by Cation–π Interactions

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, EarlyView.
A lanthanide π‐container has been employed to trap a guanidinium cation inside the aromatic cavity by cation–π interactions. X‐ray crystallography and solid‐state nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy at fast magic‐angle spinning (MAS) frequencies have been utilized to probe the underlying host–guest interactions.

Ultra-Narrow Laser Linewidth Measurement

open access: yes, 2006
In this report, we give a deeper investigation of the loss-compensated recirculating delayed self-heterodyne interferometer (LC-RDSHI) for ultra-narrow linewidth measurement, including the theoretical analysis, experimental implementation, further ...
