Phylogeny of the Electric Rays of the Family Narcinidae (Gill, 1862): Systematic Review and Evidence of the Dispersal Routes to America

open access: yesAquatic Conservation: Marine and Freshwater Ecosystems, Volume 36, Issue 6, June 2026.
ABSTRACT The family Narcinidae has a cosmopolitan distribution; however, its systematic composition and phylogenetic position within Torpediniformes remain poorly understood. This study evaluates the evolutionary and biogeographic history of the family Narcinidae and investigates its distribution patterns using molecular systematics.

A Diagnostic Challenge: From Suspected Ischemic Stroke to Confirmed Herpetic Encephalitis

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 6, June 2026.
Multimodal neuroimaging in a case of HSV‐1 encephalitis mimicking malignant MCA stroke: from initial CT findings misinterpreted as large territorial infarction, through decompressive craniectomy for refractory intracranial hypertension, to MRI confirmation of non‐territorial haemorrhagic encephalitis prompting CSF analysis and acyclovir therapy ...

Diagnostic and Therapeutic Dilemmas in Recurrent Pulmonary Alveolar Proteinosis After Bilateral Lung Transplantation

open access: yesRespirology Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 6, June 2026.
Pulmonary alveolar proteinosis (PAP) is an ultra‐rare lung disease that can recur even years after bilateral lung transplantation, as in this 73‐year‐old man whose diagnosis was delayed by PAS‐negative BAL and overlapping opportunistic infections (Nocardia, MAC, Aspergillus). Despite initially normal post‐transplant spirometry, he developed progressive

Congenital Lobar Emphysema in an Infant Presenting With Persistent Cough and Progressive Respiratory Symptoms: A Case Report

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 5, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Congenital lobar emphysema should be considered in infants with persistent respiratory symptoms unresponsive to standard therapy. Chest CT is the definitive diagnostic tool, reliably distinguishing CLE from other causes of unilateral hyperlucency.

On the Tracks of a Crustacean in the “Lingula Flags” [PDF]

open access: yesQuarterly Journal of the Geological Society of London
W hile investing in the past autumn the fossil contents of the lowest fossiliferous zone in Wales—the “Lingula flags”—my attention was frequently directed to very numerous evidences of the existence of marine worms during the formation of these ancient deposits.

Deep characterization of refractory epilepsy due to mild malformation of cortical development with oligodendroglial hyperplasia (MOGHE) and insights into the role of invasive monitoring

open access: yesEpilepsia, Volume 67, Issue 5, Page 2227-2240, May 2026.
Abstract Objective Epilepsy surgery is an effective treatment option for patients with medically refractory epilepsy due to mild malformation of cortical development with oligodendroglial hyperplasia (MOGHE). The success of surgery depends on the accurate localization of the epileptogenic zone, which can be challenging due to the subtle imaging ...

Margin Quality Analysis and Risk Factors Associated With Insufficient Margins Following Segmentectomy for Small‐Sized Non‐Small Cell Lung Cancer

open access: yesThoracic Cancer, Volume 17, Issue 10, May 2026.
Tumor size, tumor‐to‐pleura distance, tumor‐to‐segmental bronchus distance, and tumor subsegmental attribution were associated with the risk of insufficient margins following segmentectomy. Surgeons should be extra careful when performing segmentectomy for patients with tumors harboring multiple such risk factors.
