PLDSD: Propagated Linked Data Semantic Distance
2017 IEEE 26th International Conference on Enabling Technologies: Infrastructure for Collaborative Enterprises (WETICE), 2017Linked Open Data (LOD) has been exploited by recommender systems in different ways. One way measures the semantic distance between LOD resources so that nearby resources are considered related and can be recommended, the LDSD method exemplifies this approach.

Distance learning: linking CME and quality improvement
Medical Teacher, 2004This paper describes the content and evaluation of a distance learning course in therapeutics for general practitioners. Following a pilot project, a comprehensive questionnaire was sent to the 49 participants who had completed the course in its first two years. There was an 80% response rate. Overall satisfaction levels and completion rates were high.

Analysis of short distance optoelectronic link architectures
Proceedings of the 2003 International Symposium on Circuits and Systems, 2003. ISCAS '03., 2003In this paper we present analysis of two types of receivers, transimpedance and low impedance, for chip-to-chip short distance interconnects. We investigate the combined transmitter and receiver power of links containing each type of receiver as part of a hard-wired interconnect. We find that the power consumption of a complete optoelectronic link as a

Link budget for high-speed short-distance wireless optical link
2012 8th International Symposium on Communication Systems, Networks & Digital Signal Processing (CSNDSP), 2012The paper discusses analyses of high-speed wireless optical link where various effects influence the detected optical power. For purpose of the analyses, Gaussian optical intensity distribution is considered. Further mathematical analysis leads to analytical expressions of attenuation of detected optical power under all common conditions (e.g ...

VCSELs for short distance data links
LEOS '95. IEEE Lasers and Electro-Optics Society 1995 Annual Meeting. 8th Annual Meeting. Conference Proceedings, 2002As the need for gigabit data rates between high performance workstations become increasingly important, large area vertical cavity surface emitting lasers provide capability for a low cost multigigabit optical source for short distance ( 7 dB of mode selective loss (MSL) tolerance at a BER of 10/sup -10/ @ 622 Mbps.

Link Modeling with Joint Fading and Distance Uncertainty
2006 4th International Symposium on Modeling and Optimization in Mobile, Ad Hoc and Wireless Networks, 2006We introduce and discuss a novel link model that incorporates both uncertainty in the fading coefficients and the node distances for ad hoc networks with randomly placed nodes. The main result is the complete distribution of the received power for a transmission between a node and its n-th nearest neighbor.

Understanding link-level characterization of long-distance 802.11g semi-urban links
2011 6th International ICST Conference on Communications and Networking in China (CHINACOM), 2011WiFi-based Long Distance (WiLD) mesh networks have been widely deployed with the intention of bringing extremely low-cost Internet connectivity to the rural areas worldwide. Prior studies do not discuss performance degradation in outdoor 802.11g links caused by faulty driver/card-specific proprietary algorithms and have fewer investigations on the ...

Experimental Evaluation and Characterization of Long-Distance 802.11g Links
Seventh International Conference on Networking (icn 2008), 2008The use of 802.11 long-distance links is a cost-effective means of providing wireless connectivity to rural areas. Although deployments in such settings are increasing, there are few empirical results reported on the performance of 802.11 over long distances.

Improved Distance Oracles for Avoiding Link-Failure
2002We consider the problem of preprocessing an edge-weighted directed graph to answer queries that ask for the shortest path from any given vertex to another avoiding a failed link. We present two algorithms that improve on earlier results for this problem.

Oracles for distances avoiding a link-failure.
2002For a directed graph G we consider queries of the form: "What is the shortest path distance from vertex x to vertex y in G avoiding a failed link (u, v), and what edge leaving x should we use to get on a such a shortest path?" We show that an oracle for such queries can be stored in 0(n(2) log n) space with a query time of 0(log n).
